    • It works!
I like this product. So many remote switches have a seperate 'On' and 'Off' button. This one is smarter because it has a single simple large button - press it once and it turns on whatever is plugged into the outlet module. Press the button again and it turns it off. When you walk into a dark room you do not have to fumble for the 'On' switch and wind up pressing the 'Off' switch. There is only one button. I bought a second one because I could set the 2nd remote to operate the same outlet module. That way when I go to bed at night I can simply press the 2nd remote mounted near my bed instead of reaching for the switch on the fixture. This also eliminates the problem of pressing the remote and not getting light because I last shut off the lamp using the physical switch. If I need to use the 2nd outlet module I purchased for some other device I can reprogram the 2nd switch back to the 2nd outlet module. And living in an apartment there was a concern about neighbors using the same wireless switch but I think the programming part eliminates that problem (I had that issue with a different remote switch that came labelled Channel B - that 20 year old model was not programmable. BTW: The remote is already set to the outlet module right out of the box - no pressing and holding a button to get a handshake between the remote switch and outlet module. This is a great item to turn my ceiling fan off and on...works great, can be in the bed without getting up. Just plug it in.

These are small units, 4.7cm x 3.7cm, and only 2.5cm thick. The width might be an issue in side-by-side power strips. This unit came already paired. I like that the relays on these only activate when something is plugged in. The Red LED still turns on, but the relay won't close until both plug prongs move the internal magnet wipers. It has a silicone shroud over the plug holes to keep dust out. The remote runs off a coin cell. It lights a blue LED somewhat dimly when you activate it. My current remote-controlled switch is affected by line-of-sight and it consumes battery quicker than it should. I also have other smart switched that I control with an App on my phone but I wanted a one button ON/OFF switch that was reliable from any point in the workshop to control the dust collection system. I ordered additional remote-control units as they can be programmed to a single switch. This unit is also capable of a single unit controlling multiple switches although I have found in practice that if ALL switches don’t activate ON/OFF together, they are a bit of a pain to get them synchronized again. Very easy to setup and pair the remote. Works very well in my workshop with lots of metal obstructions I will use these for other applications that need direct ON/OFF capability Battery replacement is easy and uses a CR0032 pancake battery which is easy to find NOTE: the model of the remote-control unit is SW-CK1 (IC: 26805-SWK1) (FCC ID: 2ANPS-SWNK1R01) and is sold by multiple companies. I ordered additional remote-control units from another company as there were none available from this company within my needed timeframe and they work perfectly with this switch. ... show more

Although I have used Wi-Fi hubs (both Amazon and Google) and a bunch of Wi-Fi controlled outlets, they aren't always optimal. If Wi-Fi is down, they won't work. If Wi-Fi is slow, there is heavy lag for outlet to switch on. Sometimes, if you aren't speaking in their direction loudly enough, they don't respond, and you have to repeat a bunch of times. Also, that can get irritating if you live with people, and you have to voice control the hub and the audio response that you often can't turn off. Honestly, over time, I've gotten more frustrated with them. RF controlled outlets are simpler, and they just work. You tap it and it's guaranteed to turn on or off. Instantly, no delay. No messy pairing process that sometimes scuffs out. This already came pre-paired, but even if it wasn't, the pairing process is easy as pie. Press the outlet button for a few seconds and then the same on the remote, done. The remote lights up blue right above the logo a faint blue to let you know it's working. It runs on a 2032 battery, but based on usage, it will probably be at least a year before I need to change it, with a small flat screwdriver.
