Don't judge me, but I bought this for my cats 😂 they love it! You need a total of 5 AA batteries, and you'll need a tiny screwdriver to install them. The controller seems to have a range of about 15-20 feet, but that's about what I expected for a $10 car. I was driving it around my apartment (vinyl floors and area rugs) for about 20 minutes straight, and it was still going strong. The lights come on when the car is driving (but not reversing).
