  • Purchased 3 100ah Smart Batteries
Style: 12V 100Ah Bluetooth
I have a Lance 855s Truck Camper and used these batteries as part of a full power upgrade for off-grid camping. First, I had a misunderstanding of the battery operation, and was able to get it sorted with the help of Ella from Redodo tech support. Their support could not have been any better. They were prompt in their correspondences (many) and the questions were always helpful to solve the issue to my satisfaction. They also looked at my system and recommended more solar panels, which was accurate, but unfortunately I'm space limited so I added an additional battery since I don't camp off-grid for extended times. My original setup from Lance was 1 100 watt solar panel, PWM controller, and 2 LA batteries. First upgrade was to add an 1500 watt inverter and switch to 6v golf cart batteries. This setup was marginal in the winter and would require generator usage to make coffee in the morning if the heater ran much. Present upgrade was to use a Renogy DCC50 MPPT and DC/DC charger, Renogy 3000 watt inverter, and 3 Redodo 100ah smart batteries. I have used this setup for 4 days of off-grid camping with all 4 days being cloudy and raining. At the end of the trip, with no conservation of usage, the batteries still had plenty of power remaining. I have since added a Renogy 500amp shunt to monitor usage to know exactly how much capacity I have remaining. The reason I picked the Redodo 100ah smart battery was the smaller form factor that allowed for 3 batteries to be installed in the compartment. With the normal 13" width of a 100ah battery I would have only had space for 2. The ability to turn the batteries off with the push of a button is also a great feature and also allows for connection of the inverter without a large spark (or using bleed resisters) as with a normal battery. I highly recommend this battery and company. The batteries arrived well packaged, build quality is high, and their price is the best for this battery configuration. Combined with great customer service this has been a great purchase. ... show more

  • Great Battery! Outstanding Customer Support!
Style: 12V 200Ah
Redodo Battery review Let me start by saying that this is my first venture into the world of solar panels and batteries. I live in a rural area, and I wanted an off grid backup solar system. Now I have two! After much research, I decided to buy and invest in a couple of Redodo LIFEPO4 batteries. The batteries arrived in excellent packaging and had a nice white plastic color and a clear instruction packet. As I didn't know too much about solar, I wrote to Redodo customer service and asked for some advice. I was was blown away by their amazing fast response. Every email question I had, was instantly responded in detail by the next morning. Their customer service is better than most any American based company I've dealt with. One very nice feature about their support, is that a support agent seamed to be assigned to my account, so that as the correspondence continued, a person named Susan was aware of what I had asked and what was discussed, and I didn't have to start from scratch with a new customer service agent with each email. A common sense little thing, which made communications and learning a pleasure. Very quickly, Miss Susan" and Redodo became a source of help and knowledge for me, as I moved along in to this new solar venture. From recommending the type of battery charger, to calculating how much electric storage, I wrote to Redodo to help me answer the many questions I had. They have without a doubt, the best customer service I have come across in years! They have been the most friendly, helpful, patient and attentive to my learning curve. No wasted time with annoying Robo-AI phone calls. When ever I had a question, I sent off an email, and the response would come from a human, by the next morning. *AFTER SALES SERVICE.. What happens when there is a problem?* I actually had one problem where a battery went bad and no longer worked. I was concerned as LifePO4 batteries are not cheap and are designed to last for thousands of cycles, which is several years! I wrote to customer support and explained the problem and braced myself for how they would handle it. After trying a couple of tests, they confirmed to me that there was indeed a problem with it, and emailed me a return shipping label immediately to ship the defective battery back to their California warehouse. Within a couple of days they sent me a new replacement battery! A huge relief to know that this company stands by their customers and product! Several months later, I now have purchased a total of ten 200 AH Redodo batteries (formerly named Zooms) and everything I need to run my back up off-grid systems. I am running a 48 Volt solar system with 8 Redodo 200 AH batteries with a 6KW inverter and MPPT controller wired in to a generator switch panel, which is connected to my main electric home panel. This feeds 240 Volts and 120 Volt appliances and rooms. This way I can select which rooms or appliances I want on solar/battery, and can switch back with the flip of a switch to grid. I also put together a second smaller 24 Volt solar system , with 2KW inverter and MPPT and two Redodo 200 AH batteries. In conclusion, I quickly realized that when buying LIFPO4 batteries, the price of the battery is one consideration, but also the company you are buying them from is super important and how accessible they are to their customers. Because if/when you do need help or have a question, you will be needing company support. I hope my personal experience regarding Redodo batteries, helps answer some questions one may have, regarding buying a battery from Redodo. ... show more

  • Massive upgrade from deep cycle lead acid
Style: 12V 100Ah Mini
I've had 2 of these in my RV for 3+ months. These are a huge upgrade from the GC2 deep-cycle flooded lead acid batteries they replaced. They charge much faster - I can dump 100+ amps into them until they're 90% full. They have much better discharge performance - Even when they're down to 20%, I can run the 1000W inverter at full power without the voltage sagging. No maintenance, no sulfation from deep cycling, less weight to haul around... they're just better. Also, they have a cute mascot. Some notes on charging: These have an integrated BMS so they do not need a 3 or 4 stage charger. 2-stage works great - constant current until they reach 14.4V, then constant voltage with tapering current until they're full, at which the BMS cuts off the charge automatically. When charging at 14.4V, the pair tapers down to about 50A for 10-20 minutes, then the BMS shuts them off. They don't shut off at the same time so the current suddenly drops to 25A, then 0A when the second one shuts off. If I leave the generator running they'll reconnect a few times to finish topping off. If I set the charge voltage high (14.6V) they will do shorter, faster pulses. If I set it lower (14.2V) they tend to top off at a slower, steadier rate. Either way doesn't significantly affect the overall charge time, and being Li-ion it's not necessary to finish charging the last few percent to keep them healthy. Charging from the alternator is very fast (100+ amps) at first when they're discharged, but it slows down a lot for the second half of the charge because the alternator floats at 13.8V for the sake of the engine battery. They do seem to get most of the way eventually, but higher voltages go much faster. ... show more
