  • INSTALLATION - The Hood QuickLIFT System includes all components needed for the installation. Some mounting hardware included in the system requires use of special multi-grip rivets (included) to attach ball stud brackets (drilling is required). We include detailed full-color installation manuals to make installation a breeze.
  • QuickLIFT PLUS (ALL BLACK SYSTEM) - All of our installation hardware is designed to last and we spare no expense on the details. First, we zinc plate all steel-mounting hardware, then each bracket is also black powder coated for the ultimate in corrosion protection. QuickLIFT PLUS includes black gas springs. There is a four-year warranty on all QuickLIFT PLUS components.
  • BLACK GAS SPRINGS - The gas springs used in this application each have a black e-coated steel body with black annealed extending rod. The end-fittings used are designed specifically for this application. Gas strut orientation is always body end up (large tube attaching to hood bracket) and extending rod attaches to lower ball stud.
  • PROGRESSIVE-RATE GAS SPRINGS - Redline Tuning gas springs are not off-the-shelf parts, they are designed by us and manufactured to our specifications for each vehicle application. I installed these on my 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road in 90 minutes, taking my time. The hood lifters handle the weight of the Tacoma hood and they function perfectly, aiding in lifting the hood and keeping it raised at the fully open position. They also provide assistance when closing the hood by supporting the weight as the hood is being lowered. The included installation instructions are well-written, clear, thorough and easy to follow, and they include quality step-by-step photos in color. Before you begin the installation process, be sure you have all the necessary tools, supplies, etc., such as: > All Parts & Instructions Provided by Redline Tuning > Drill > 3/16" Drill Bit > Fine or Ultra Fine Point Permanent Marker > Masking Tape > Electrical Tape (used to mark drill depth on drill bit) > Tape Measure > Hammer & Center Punch (an automatic center punch is also helpful to make the initial punch) > Touch Up Paint > Rivet Gun, Heavy Duty for Use With Two Hands, Capable of 3/16" Rivets > Sufficient Lighting > A Helper (not required, but another person is helpful to assist with the installation) Some Advice: > Take your time with the installation. > Protect the fenders from getting scratched/damaged by covering them with towels, blankets, heavy sheets, etc. > Measure twice or thrice before using the punch and drilling holes. > Use the touch up paint to coat bare metal after drilling holes. > Test the installation and operation. Ensure the hood opens and closes all the way with no binding. > After the installation, take inventory of all tools, supplies, parts, etc. to ensure no foreign objects are left behind in the engine bay. ... show more

    • Buy These - Not the cheaper No Drill Type
I have had these for a few weeks now and am very happy with them. They work great and the instructions are great. Once installed, you don't know how you raised that hood without them! Installing can be a bit daunting if you are not handy. The pop rivets are long and need considerable force to install. But, once installed they are very tight and secure. Consider getting a 17 inch long handle pop riveter from Harbor Freight. My smaller hand riveter (the 2 hand squeeze type) did not work well, so I used a larger one. Use tape on the drill to use as a drill stop. (Or Harbor Freight sells drill stops also). Some reviewers have knocked a bit off for the hard riveting installation, but I am really pleased with these (5 Stars). RedLine Tuning has an installation video on YouTube to follow, and Robmotive has one also that is very good. DON'T buy the Sokietech bolt-on type. I have done that route and they are a disaster waiting to happen. ... show more

This is an unbelievably quality product with superb installation instructions. Written in (1) language..ENGLISH!.. The installation was quick with only (1) warning. The 3/16" rivets hold incredibly well but require great grip strength to install. Would highly recommend this product!

    • Hood struts work well. Easy to install with one exception.
The hood struts raise the hood to the stock height. The struts work well, the hood lifts open without the need for the prop rod to hold the hood open. It's nice not to have the prop rod in the way when working under the hood. The full color instructions were really nice and easy to follow. The only problem I had was when I was installing the 3/16 inch pop rivets. I have a hand operated pop riveter tool. I didn't have enough hand strength to 'pop' the pop rivets with the tool that I have. I ended up using a clamp on the handles of the pop riveter tool to 'pop' the rivets. ... show more

    • Top notch hood struts for 2017 Tacoma!
These hood struts fit perfectly on my 2017 DCSB TRD OR Tacoma. Ignore what Amazon says at the top of the screen regarding fitment for 2017 trucks - yes, they do fit! (Of course, eventually Amazon will update their vehicle database, but until then rest assured you will be OK) Redline Tuning is a top notch vendor, and this is the second time I have used their hood struts on a Toyota truck - the first being when I installed a similar kit on my now-gone 2014 Tacoma. As before, the instructions are first rate, and you are provided with four brackets, eight rivets, and two gas lift cylinders. All arrived nicely packed and in good condition inside a rigid cardboard tube. You'll need to drill eight holes, four in your hood and four beneath your fenders. You'll need to remove plastic shrouds clipped to your fenders to access the mounting points - it looks difficult but it isn't. As you have undoubtedly guessed, MEASURE TWICE, DRILL ONCE. Actually, make that "measure THREE times!" I didn't bother with a punch, just placed blue painters tape on the hood to protect against a skipping drill bit, and more importantly, the rivet stem when it breaks off out of your rivet gun and is blown away towards your hood (or your eyes) at a high rate of speed. Maybe it's my DeWalt rivet gun (purchased at the orange home improvement store for about $20) that rockets the rivet stems away, but I'd recommend wearing gloves and glasses. YMMV on that one. If you have a measuring tape, blue painters tape, drill motor, and rivet gun you really can knock this out in around 1/2 hour like others here have said. I took longer because I wanted to double and triple check the measurements before drilling a bunch of holes in my hood. :) Oh, you might want a 2" x 4" to prop your hood up higher than the OEM prop rod, it makes drilling and general clearance easier. Overall, the installation was dead simple. If you have any mechanical skills whatsoever you should have no trouble tackling this job and fixing what another reviewer called (and I agree with) an "antiquated prop rod" system. ... show more
