Description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s 1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte- finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion. Finally, the MX4 can hold up to 400lbs of evenly distributed weight and is backed by a 5-year, hassle-free warranty. BAKFlip MX4 is proudly made in the USA with globally sourced materials with a US-based support team. .

  • Truck bed cover
Perfect fit on our Gladiator 2021. Quality good.
Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2024 by Tracey

  • Fitted easily and is a good fit for the Gladiator. Looks good, robust and secure.
For some reason, the 1* review I gave the incorrect delivery at first, is overwriting the 4* review I gave the correct delivery. The first order, the incorrect items were delivered but that was resolved/fully refunded and the correct order received with only a few days delay in work. The correct cover fitted very well and looks good on my 2023 Gladiator and is worth the money. It appears robust, secure and versatile! Other reviewers have noted that the instructions are misleading. I consider myself pretty good with the tools but would describe these instructions as unclear and you really have to sit inside the bed of the truck before you start and read the instructions several times with the various parts in your hands to visualize how they go together, because in view that this kit is provisioned for several different model years of Gladiator with different fixing holes in the bed, there is a "Choice A" and a "Choice B" for the methods of attaching the side rails and you must choose the right method for your Glad. I agree with the comment about the lower forward screw/rubber thingy. It is really only an aid to location during assembly. That "wierd" expanding bolt has to be hammered through the top hole and EXPANDED and then the screw removed again before you can fit the side rail. If you don't do that, the forward end of the rails will not be anchored correctly. The comments that the rails don't sit level and droop down is correct AT FIRST. Once you attach the forward most panel with the large thumbwheels, that pulls everything level and as long as the rear TORX screws are well tightened, alignment is assured. On that note - WHY TORX SCREWS??? Why not a hex bolt with lock washer that I can get a small ratchet on? I found that lying on my back trying to engage those screws under the rim of the bed to be uncomfortable, fiddly and slower than needful. If you are likely to drive round much with the cover removed COMPLETELY, it would be possible to go to Home Depot and pick up 6 feet of Aluminum angle section, paint it to suit the bed color, drill and bolt the angle to the forward flat brackets across the bed to hold the side rails level that way but not many people would feel the need to go that far, I think! One small issue that prevented me giving the cover a 5* is that one of the parts for the strap tiedown was left out of the package but I had a suitable screw and anchor in my "left over parts from other projects" drawer in my garage and so only a few minutes delay was experienced in fitting the cover assembly to the vehicle. NEVER throw excess parts away! I find that these days, a lot of manufacturers will add an extra part of each kind to the package of parts to ensure that if one part count is miscounted low, it doesn't matter but this maker aims to provide the correct number but if one small item is left out, then you are short and dependent on your "left over parts" drawer. That's a manufacturers choice to save a few cents but risks reputation if they get it wrong!!!! Note that if you cant find a small screw in the tie down strap buckle bag, look inside the buckle and I found one was "hiding" in there and prized it out with a screwdriver. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted. Good quality. Quiet ride.
Easy to install and use.

  • Very well build and good quality.
If it is your fist time assembling this item. Give yourself the patience and time. Also watch some videos on YouTube. Might need to buy some extra screws to replace some that come with item. Other than that I love it. Very well built. A little pricey but worth every cent.

  • Installation problematic
Let me start by saying the product looks nice and so far has been water tight and I hope for the price it holds up for a long time. The installation was troublesome on a few different areas, to start with, the side rails are about an 1/8 to 3/16 inch too long resulting in tailgate not closing, contacted company, and was sent 2 new ones, which was slightly better but still unable to close tailgate, resulting in my finally using a hacksaw to trim off the excess metal. The second issue was with the right side rail bolt holes not lining up and needing to oblong the holes to get the bolts to line up, while that did solve the problem it also highlighted the stupidity of having to use torx bolts to secure the side rails to the bed rails, trying to tighten bolts with torx key supplied was an PIA as you only have minimal space to reach in and turn, making matters worse as I have arthritic thumbs. I ended up purchasing 4 M6 25 hex head bolts so I could get in easily with a wrench, I would also recommend running the bolts through the bed rail holes beforehand as the factory paint in the threads makes for harder tightening in the tight space. I believe the length and hole alignment issues is from having a spray on bedliner, but was assured that was not the problem from the manufacturer, if so then it is just poor quality control. ... show more

  • Bed Cover
This product looks great installed and is fairly easy to install But is extremely cheap built product with an extremely premium price, I don’t see this lasting even on a second vehicle. I would not recommend.

  • Keeps the water out, easy to open and close
Purchased this for my wife’s 2020 Gladiator. The installation instructions weren’t very clear in some places. Start to finish time was about 2.5 hours.

  • Nice clean looking cover
So over all a really nice cover. Easy to open and fold up. Well built. I like the aluminum panels. Now the install is different mater. The trox head screw were a pain in the rear to install. Suggest going with hex head screws so a wrench ratchet can be used. The inserts for the buckles did not fit. Had to hammer in. And the rails flex a bit when closing the top. Need a clamp or bolt in the middle of the rails. I would highly recommend this cover. ... show more
