Each tray is perfect for seedlings, the compost/soil pucks are perfect potting mix, and fill each tray well. There are 7 different seed options- and enough trays and soil to start all types should you choose to do so! This is a beautifully put together kit with everything you need to start bonsai.

I have been trying to grow a bonsai from seed for a while. This product came with everything I needed, including (most important), better directions on how to get your bonsai started. Sprouts popping already. Really excited to see future results in a a couple of months. I will update!

    • Amazing kit however, had a flaw
While this kit came as described, the box I received was missing the seeds. There was an option for replacement however, that would take longer than buying new seeds. Overall, I love the kit. There just needs to be better quality control.

The product offers a ton of seeds and instructions on all of them. You also get dirt and pots and water catchers to put them on! Amazing kit. Well worth the money.

This is likely the best starter kit on Amazon. I haven’t had any sprout yet because I just planted them, but they come with plenty of extra seeds in case!

    • Great value, but could be better
As a beginner to bonsai, this kit is very appealing. The variety of seeds is spot on for what a lot of people gravitate toward for flashy bonsai trees. The only reason I didn't rate this kit as a full 5 stars is because it's targeted toward beginners like myself, but growing from seed, I've now learned, is a scary thing and doesn't guarantee success. The seeds are delicate, and while the kit comes with instructions, they were fairly vague as to the treatment of the seeds. I destroyed the first few seeds attempting to follow the instructions of "remove the outer shell" only to realize that the intention isn't to remove the ENTIRE shell. Totally my bad, but could happen to anyone who is excited to just get started. Luckily, they do warn you to save seeds in case of accidents or just bad seeds that don't germinate, so I still have extras to try again. I do appreciate that the kit comes with plenty of soil and the different pots per plant including little signs to keep them organized. The instruction booklet is filled with other instructions to help after the seeds start to grow. For more advanced green thumbs, it is a solid kit, but I only suggest that beginners carefully do their research before getting started, even with a kit :) ... show more
