I've used this floss for probably 25 years now and it was the only one I liked. I don't know if they changed the product recently or what the heck happened, because this is almost unusable. The floss is much thinner than usual and if it gets wet at ALL, it will slide between your fingers and you can't grip it. Obviously the mouth is a wet environment, so that's kind of a problem. I've tried wrapping the floss four times (using way more product that you should need) around my fingers and it STILL slides through my fingers. What have they done?! I rarely write a "bad" review, but this low-quality dental floss deserves it. First of all: it comes in all plastic packaging. ---------- At least package it with a bit of cardboard that I can recycle. The first attempt at pulling this floss out of its container had me SO AGGRAVATED. I can take apart my vacuum and replace the fan belt. I can make minor plumbing repairs. I can change a tire on a car, no sweat. Do you think I could get this floss to come out of the container? No way in hell. After tugging and tugging, I opened the container and STILL couldn't get the floss to unwind properly. I tried removing the spool and turning the entire unit upside-down, thinking maybe it was just inserted into its container the wrong way. NOTHING worked. I have to open the lid every time I want to access the floss. AND, the coup de grâce------the damn floss is so thin and shreds so easily-------IT'S A COMPLETE JOKE. First time I used the floss, shredded thready bits got stuck between my upper molars and had to go find my REAL waxed floss to get the "hairs" out from between my teeth. Don't worry if you don't like mint-flavored, either, because you will have a real hard time tasting that this floss has any mint at all. I'm digging the plastic packaging out of the trash and sending this junk back for a refund. ... show more

The floss jams in the dispenser due to the harsh angle it comes off the reel. I drilled a hole in the middle of the dispenser to pull floss through and it fixed the problem.

PROS: Tastes like mint. Relatively low waste package container (~4x length of other floss containers). Pulls and cuts well. CONS: Not great quality string. This was was shredded by my teeth. I probably ended up using more floss overall as I needed to cut an second string to floss out the floss fibers that got stuck in between my teeth during the first flossing. ... show more

I have tried many other flosses to save money, but Reach Waxed dental floss is definitely the best I have used. Routinely, when I use the cheaper flosses, especially unwaxed floss, the material shreds or decides it want to set up camp in my mouth. I often wondered if I would ever get the floss off my teeth. In addition to these issues, some flosses are so difficult to remove that they dig into my fingers almost to the point of bleeding. Other flosses like Glide are prone to severance, forcing me to do a Homer Simpson impression: "Doh!" I will admit that I have some sharp edges on some of my teeth. These edges eviscerate less hardy floss. I'm sure that I have released stress hormones during failed attempts to remove food particles and other plaque-producing products. It's possible that chronic stress from failed flossing episodes may increase the likelihood of hardening of the arteries. Who needs this stress in their life?!! Reach Waxed Dental Floss has failed to cause any of these negative issues. Never have I severed Mint-flavored Reach Waxed Dental floss. One generous string of this floss will scrape all 32 teeth(if you're fortunate to have this many) clean without incident. The mint flavoring will settle in your mouth as if you had been served an after-dinner mint. Yes, it is a little more expensive; however, moving through an entire episode of flossing your teeth without inciting the release of stress hormones is definitely worth the price.     • Smart packaging for left handed people, does not shred

I love this floss, because of 4 reasons: 1. It does not shred when you use it, which is probably due to the fact that it is waxed. 2. It is not too thick, and you can really use it when you have very narrow gaps (more so no gaps) between your teeth. 3. The packaging is smart, since it comes in an upright rectangular box, unlike other floss that comes in a flatter box that always falls down and does not stay upright when you put it on the shelf. This one stands like a tin soldier. Also, there are 2 hooks to cut the floss, which means you can decide if you want the floss to point to the right or to the left when you cut it. I think this might be helpful for left-handed people. 4. Great price! The mint flavor is a nice side effect, but not important for me. It is subtle and not overbearing. ... show more

The value of these floss dispensers was off the charts, much cheaper than most alternatives. The fact that it was for waxed floss that was also minty fresh was the crucial decision factor. When received, I was somewhat surprised: unlike any floss I'd ever seen, the floss is at the top of the dispenser, not a flip top. In the south, where I live, this is not acceptable. Because of bugs, unavoidable down here, you just cannot tolerate anything stored uncovered. I retained the original packaging(as should you) to keep it contained. Other choices are to put it away in a closed medicine cabinet or even in your fridge. I gave it a good rating because it was affordable, minty and usable... ... show more
