  • Very upset
That I didn’t buy this years ago. I plugged it in when truck was off and it worked immediately. I also used remote start, plugged it in then turned the key to “on” and it worked. No more 4 cyl! Added bonus: the transmission feels a lot better. It used to lunge when coming to a stop or making a turn- that’s gone now for some reason. It also holds on to gears a bit longer and maybe it’s in my heads but I swear it shifts smoother. Excellent product. ... show more

  • This thing saved my 5.3 Silverado!!!!!
Researched the oil consumption problem on my 2008 Chevy Silverado 5.3 with Active Fuel Management, and found that when truck goes into 4 cylinder mode it begins to use oil to the tune a quart every 1500 miles. Decided to buy Range AFM disable module and it works great! Oil consumption is virtually non existent with 85K miles on the truck I change oil every 5 K miles and surprise the oil is still there. It runs strong in constant V-8 mode which has not effected overall mileage one bit. One thing I noticed that you have to check on information center once in a while to make sure unit is working because after I let the truck sit for a few days with module plugged in I noticed it was not working. I then unplugged the unit and plugged it back in and it worked, this occurred twice in a 6 month period. If vehicle is not to be driven for more than two days I unplug the module and haven't had the problem since. This unit is well worth the money spent to save my engine from damage from the GM blunder of Active Fuel Management, which in my opinion is inexcusable disaster inflicted on what in my opinion is one of the best trucks ever made."Product Update 11-23-16 my truck has 93k on it and today the truck began shifting very hard... I thought maybe transmission was letting go but remembered someone commenting on how the Range module was causing this with their truck. My solution was to disconnect Range module, then connect code reader to scan the system no trouble codes found. Then I cleared system just to be sure and installed Range module again. Everything is fine shifting perfectly I assume there is a firmware update for this problem. ... show more

  • Definitly Works, worth the money!!
I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban. I bought it from my son-in law with the knowledge I was going to replace the engine. After a new engine I had about two thousand miles on it, and suffered a lifter failure. Had that repaired, then in about another thousand miles I had a failure on the other side of the engine. Same thing. My mechanic explained the problem is a known issue with the 8/4 option on the engine. He explained the engine had issues when it dropped into the 4 cylinder mode in that the back cylinders didn't get proper lubrication. He recommended this unit. He has one on his Chevy Silverado and Taho. We walked out to the parking lot and he showed me that he did in fact have them installed. I did purchase the unit and installed it. Gas milage did drop slightly. However the truck does perform better and seems to run better. Also the truck does not use oil like it used to. I always had to add a quart between oil changes. This has gone. The only issue I have with it, is if you are not using the truck unplug it as it will suck your battery down to nothing. So if the truck is sitting for more than a week I pull it and lay it on the drivers seat. Not an issue if you remember. Well worth the money and if it saves me from having another engine job, great! ... show more

  • V6 Works Great in a V6 Silverado 2015
I was not able to find any V6 users of any kind online who had tried this, but the manufacturer's site said it would work, so I gave it a try. I just got through test driving my V6 2015 Silverado - city and highway - and it works great. If you have stock exhaust, you won't notice the problems of AFM as much as with an aftermarket exhaust. After getting a single Magnaflow Super 44 - keeping all cats but getting rid of the resonator and muffler (sounds GREAT btw) - the problems increased a whole lot: shuddering at light throttle and low RPMs, more shuddering on automatic downshifts when stopping, making an air pump 'pst pst pst' sound when stopping, strange shifting (it must use two patterns for the two modes which confound each other) and feeling like a great amount of exhaust restriction at low-throttle acceleration, often prompting you to hit the gas harder just to clear it up. Well, this device clears it ALL up. It runs smoothly at all throttle positions at all speeds, has immediate power all the time, doesn't shift erratically nor does it feel like there is a potato in the exhaust pipe. I imagine I will only take this out for very long highway trips, but maybe not. It took a lot of digging to find out how the AFM system works: not only does it shut off fuel and spark, but it holds the valves open which can cause oil use and I can not find evidence that it cycles through the cylinders for even wear and heating which would be bad if it didn't. This is why the motor sounds like an air pump when you are decelerating - but not with this device. Bottom line: GET IT for your V6! ... show more
