  • At the time of this writing, the least expensive jump pack on Amazon
Color: Yellow
I wanted to have a small jump pack for my motorcycle tool kit. Something small, light, and preferably inexpensive that I could toss in a saddlebag or backpack for my rides. After reading some reviews I settled on this one. When I bought this it was around $25 on sale. The price has gone up to about $30, which is still very inexpensive for a jump pack-- assuming it works. I gambled, bought it, and after it was delivered I began testing. It arrived quickly with about 75% charge in it. I plugged it in overnight so it could finish charging. It uses a USB-C cable which is nice because I already have plenty of those, including one on my bike. Once it was charged, I tested its output. I hooked it to a dummy load used to test batteries (basically a large, low-ohm resistor that can pull a lot of current out of a battery). I placed a Uni-T UT210E ammeter around one of the test leads and hit the switch on the dummy load. The jump pack put out 50 amps for 3 seconds, then cycled off. This is normal operation. I repeated this two or three more times, at which time the jump pack beeped at me, indicating that it needed to cool down. Again, this is normal. I let it cool off for a couple of hours while I recharged it and repeated the test. Another 3 or 4 attempts at 50 amps and once again it needed to cool off. At the end of each testing attempt, it still showed 3 out of 4 charge indicator lights (IE 75% charge left). I'm not sure if this is accurate or not. Maybe someday I'll do a capacity test. I'm not sure how much current this thing will put out if connected to a really discharged battery, but I'm satisfied with its performance in testing. I have another jump pack that I bought years ago which behaves identically (50A output for a few seconds) and I have successfully used it to start a couple of dead vehicles in the past. The only thing I don't like about it is that the connector for the jump leads is difficult to insert and remove. Because of this it's relatively easy to bend it sideways, which will probably crack the plastic housing and potentially ruin the whole thing. Make sure you have a firm grip on both the pack and the jump lead connector when plugging/unplugging. Also, don't leave the leads connected. Aside from being a short circuit hazard, a single drop will probably cause the whole thing to come apart. This pack probably won't be enough to start a stone-dead car or truck, but for a motorcycle (or a moderately discharged car or truck) it will probably be fine. Of course, I hope I'll never need it, but if I do it will be in my bag, ready to go. It's convenient, inexpensive, and less of a hassle than jumper cables. We'll see what the longevity is like. ... show more

  • Held a solid charge for at least 2 months and was still able to jump start a V8
Originally chose this since it's so close in size and price to a large USB external battery pack, I figured the extra functionality of the jump starter was probably more of a novelty but could come in handy. Charged it and threw it in the car's emergency bag, then pretty much forgot about it. I've now used it to jump start three full-sized vehicles and it worked effortlessly. Worked great to jump start a big block V8 pickup and a German V8 SUV and one was a Japanese V6 four wheel drive vehicle that had been sitting in the yard undriven all winter. Most recent jump start was after it sat for two months in the back of my car. The little jump starter made quick work of breathing life back into an SUV with a low battery. I've now used it several times jump starting ATVs and riding lawn mowers as well. Charging is a breeze with the USB-C connector. So nice to see fragile micro-USBs nowhere in sight on these. The ability to charge two devices via the included USB ports is great, and the integrated LED floodlight is a nice bonus, its placement is perfect for standing on end and illuminating a late night tire change. One thing to note is that while the contacts of the clamps are quite thick copper, the clips themselves are plastic. They appear robust however, just use care to not throw heavy objects onto them and recognize that some plastics get brittle in extreme cold. The other consideration is that the connector cables are very short. It may be a stretch just to reach between the positive battery terminal and the ground. This may require some creativity in where you connect the ground cable. Overall this little device outperforms the more expensive compact jump starters I've owned, and even outpaces the combination jump box/air compressor that has lived in my garage for a decade. At this price I'll definitely be adding these to the emergency kits of my other vehicles as well. ... show more

  • Easy to use.
Color: Yellow
Worked great first try with my small SUV. Great size and the case makes it easy store and keep out of the way. Charged pretty quick and has plenty of power for my needs. The USB ports and flashlight might come in handy someday. Great price and gives me a little piece of mind on the road.

  • When it works, it's great
I've jumped off trucks, cars, an airplane, and nearly a boat, but it came up just short on power delivery to start it. So yeah, I've put it through the ringer. It's very compact, and at this price point, I was blown away by it's performance. You can get multiple jumps from a single charge, as long as they start quickly. The wires are so tiny, yet they deliver tons of current for short periods of time. I'm not ready to get rid of the jumper cables just yet, as they give me a peace of mind, but this little booger is so easy to keep in the car. Plus, jumper cables require a donor car, which you don't always have at your disposal. The only con is, sometimes it's a race back to the ignition after putting it on the battery. It'll time out and you'll hear it click off, requiring you to remove it and try again. Sometimes it's mere seconds, which is pretty annoying. My advice, keep searching for a ground that makes it happy... I didn't say the best ground either (i.e. battery). It's cantankerous as heck but when you get it happy it'll give you the juice ... show more

  • Worked greay
Color: Yellow
Ordered the jump starter because my wife's Honda CRV was parked all winter (in the NE) and the two year old battery was absolutely flat. When the device arrived, I read the instructions, charged the device according to the instructions and after charging hooked it up to the battery and the car immediately started right up. Instructions were clear and easy to follow and it worked well. Seems to hold a charge for quite a while. Very pleased with this purchase. ... show more
