  • Decent wall rack, just make sure you put the front and back on properly.
I have built a few other racks similar to this, so I am pretty familiar. It goes together the same. I inadvertently flipped the front panel around backward, so I got it all together and I couldn't put on the door! Once I realized what I did I flipped it around and the door went on just fine. There are two things about these styles (not this one only) that I am not a fan of. One, is the way the rack goes together, it uses the capture nuts as well to put it all together, which they sometimes fall out in shipping and you need to dig to find them. Also, because they clip in, sometimes you can pop them out while trying to put it together and once they are in, if you tighten them too much they can start to pull through the holes (picture 5). It's not a huge issue, but something to be aware of. Second, the same style capture nuts are used on the rack portion of this as well. Meaning the rack part doesn't have pre-drilled holes, so you have to make sure you install the nuts in the right place, which should be fairly simple as the rails have markings on them (make sure to install those the right way or it will be all wonky), but again, after putting them in if the item you are racking is heavy you might have issues trying to line up the nuts and the item (like a 25lb UPS), but with a second person, it shouldn't be a problem. I also like the fact that you do not need to install the locks on the side of the rack, they have tabs that can hold the sides in. Mine is going in my garage, so security isn't a concern, it just lets me not worry about keeping track of the keys. One more thing that might help, if you don't need to lock any of it, is to put a magnet on the door to hold it shut instead of locking it. The door opens very easily, so if the rack is a little off level it could come open on you, a nice little neodymium magnet would do the trick nicely. ... show more

  • Very sturdy and cools very well. The fan is also very quiet!
I am a nerd at heart and have multiple 48 port switches, some routers, and a collection of Mini PCs I wanted to put in a cabinet. One of my goals was to quiet the fan noise from the switches. Another goal was to add some organization to the crazy collection of gear and cables I have accumulated. This 9U RackPath Wallmount cabinet seemed like the perfect solution. This cabinet is very sturdy and easily mounted to the wall. I love that the side and top panels can be easily removed so I can keep the cables organized. It's also nice if I have to work on equipment in the rack. The rails are very adjustable from front to back. I was glad to add a little space for cabling and such. It's very "adjustable." The cabinet also has locks to protect the contents, where needed. I installed them to ensure they work, but I will only lock them sometimes. It is an excellent option to have, though. The cabinet is well-ventilated, and I'm happy to report I'm not having any heat-related issues. It doesn't quiet things down as much as I had hoped, but sound dampening/isolation is not an advertised feature of this cabinet. It helps. Just less than I had hoped. I'll take the extra ventilation, though. The included fan is very quiet and circulates the air nicely. Like other reviewers, I was not impressed with the fan's wiring. It didn't take much to fix it safely, but it does require some attention. ... show more

  • Sturdy, looks great, and shipped near flawlessly
First of all, this was shipped with care. I did find dents and scratches but I do not know if this was due to factory or a returned product. I will based my review on the product itself, however. This thing looks great when hung up high on the wall. It is a 9U rack with PLENTY of space. Ear mounting point depths can be adjusted - the face races are not permanently attached to the chassis but instead installed on adjustable gap top and bottom rails. After complete installation, the chassis itself is STRONG and there is no issues holding up items. This chassis has two fan openings and one installed fan. The side doors panels are removable and lockable. The front door can be installed left or right hand opening and is a mesh grille type door. The locking mechanism is your generic lock type which can easily be picked so I’d say it’s more of a deterrent than theft prevention. If someone had the time, they’d probably remove the screws binding down the entire chassis itself thus dismantling would be far easier than prying the lock open. It comes with all the hardware and labeled easily for you to assemble and it took myself about 20 minutes to assemble. After assembly, you’re gonna need a helping hand to measure out and hold the chassis while you mount on the wall. The 16” distance between wall mounting points are fantastic it is easy to install once you find one stud, the mounting holes are 16” apart and makes it super easy to install. The chassis does not have any sharp edges - except for the top and bottom removable plates (for wiring, cables) - these are stamped metal pieces and no issues at all. Entire chassis is just solid after building it together and I have zero issues with fitment and equipment mounts effortlessly. You have plenty of space inside the case to store your equipment and you can get trays, rails, etc to expand. It comes with a packet of hardware to install your equipment as well. Everything you need is included and overall it’s great! The only thing I’d like to have included would be a tray. Perhaps that would add to the cost but overall there’s not much I’d change in terms of design. Last but not least the lag bolts (M6) are just too short - for 110lbs, I’d expect at least 2.5-inches in length but these bolts are a tad over an inch long only. You can replace with with longer lag bolts from your local hardware store. I did not like the scratches and one side panel dent (that’s very minor) - but overall that did not detract from the quality rating overall. ... show more

  • Solid tech rack!
It's taken me a while to get this set-up and installed, but once I did, I really like it. It's got plenty of room for multiple components. I have two switches in there now. My tech is not in a closet so the fan provided does a nice job of keeping things cool. You may need additional air flow and cooling if this is in a closet or you have a lot more tech creating significantly more heat. This unit is a good value for small offices. ... show more
