We have an 80-year-old Cape Cod that’s been through a lot of changes. Our kitchen is a former bedroom, with only one window — one of the originals, at that — looking out at our neighbor’s side porch and guest room. Our previous neighbor was an elderly woman who never seemed to use the porch or guest room, and we really need the light from that one window, so I didn’t bother with curtains there. Our neighbor passed away a few months ago, and the house has been sold to a young couple, so it was time to consider doing something about privacy. I still didn’t want curtains, both because of the light and because the main food prep counter is right in front of that window, and things can get messy. This film was the ideal solution! The window panes are all the same size, and I was able to use just a pair of scissors to cut the film to size. Sprayed water on the glass and on the back of the film, slid the piece into place, and squeegeed with a credit card. Simple as can be, economical, high quality, and looks great! The film is easy to apply, just time consuming if you have a bunch of little windows you have to cut around. But application process is simple and when the sun shines through it, it’s absolutely gorgeous 😊 Gave us a sense of privacy on our front door too. You can still see figures through it a bit, but you wouldn’t be able to look through the windows and see what’s in the house. ... show more

Giving this 4 stars on the basis that while it went on easy and looks amazing for a window cover it does very little in regards of concealment. I can still see very plainly into my bathroom and will need to put something more private over it. I would still recommend to those looking to jazz up their boring old plain windows but do suggest using curtains or blinds over it for privacy. ... show more

I bought this for my bathroom, which has pretty poor quality blinds. I want the great natural light I can get with my blinds open without having to worry about my privacy. This film does the trick! It's very easy to apply and looks great. In direct sun, it projects chromatic effects onto your walls, so this would be especially great for an east/west facing window. It helps make your window translucent to where you can't see in or out, but light still filters through. It sticks well to the window and doesn't require any special tools to install, just a knife, some scissors, soapy water, a squeegee or credit card, and some patience. The film comes with very clear, easy to follow instructions. My only comment is that it may be easier to measure a template of your window and cut it to size, rather than cutting extra of the film like the instructions tell you to. You could use wrapping paper to measure an exact-size template, and then use that to cut the size film you need. This would make installation much easier - and would avoid the hassle of trying to adjust the size of the film when it's already on the window with a knife or scissors. ... show more

I bought this film to add some privacy to a back door window. #1 I bought the 17.5” width film even though my window size was 21 1/2. I could not justify the big price difference between widths. The 17.5 size was on sale for Prime Day for $5.99 so I figured I would try it and try to piece the section rather than spend $25+ on something I wasn’t sure would work. That being said - I installed the 17.5” section. It went on beautifully. Easy to do although the water did pool a bit at the bottom so I just soaked it up with a paper towel and used a squeegee then a credit card to ensure it was smooth. Then I measured for the addition 4 “, cut it, applied it the same way and lo and behold it worked! I had to do a little trim because my cut wasn’t clean but only i have seen the piecing together. If you have a good steady hand you can do it too. So I saved $18. Now as far as the rainbow colors - it works beautifully when the sun shines directly on it as evidenced on my pics which aren’t great. When the sun isn’t shining on it , it looks good, has some sparkle and overall just really lightens up the kitchen overall. Very pleased with the product. ... show more

I bought this primarily as a sun catcher and secondarily for privacy. I must say I am very pleased with the pretty rainbows. The time of day when the sun is at the right angle has become my favorite!! It should be noted that I got the “clear” option which I was panicking about at first since I had intended to get the “silver” option (though based on other reviews I don’t know if there would’ve been much of a difference) but it turned out to be perfect for me. It makes it harder to see through but you definitely still can but I’m not to concerned about privacy on these windows anyways. Application wasn’t too complicated for me. All you need is a spry bottle of water, a box cutter, some sort of relatively flat, solid-cornered object to push the water out with and a rag to soak up the water that runs out. The width of the roll was the perfect height for what I wanted for my window and probably made the job a lot easier for me since I only had to cut 2 sides. I recommend cutting it a bit wider than you need and lining up the bottom and then adjusting it with a knife after. When cutting the edges I recommend going slightly in from the side of the window so the edges don’t lift up (trust me, I had to go back and cut tiny strips off the sides after and you do NOT want to do that). It really didn’t take to long and wasn’t too hard for one person to do alone. I’ve had the film up on my windows for almost 3 months now and they’ve held up fine so far. ... show more
