  • this one might be the right one for you...
[see photos included here] - In an attempt to heat up the water in our larger *corner* soaking tub I wanted a solution that would heat up the water without depleting our hot water heater tank. This was the most powerful Immersion Heater I saw in Amazon, and that was the main selling point. The inclusion of a timer was a nice added-value but not something I absolutely needed. A feature I didn't know I needed is, having a way to switch the device to [ON], otherwise connecting/disconnecting would cause a big spark! This is a major deal for me and I am glad this unit has a switching feature. So after reading the poorly written instructions (common sense will be necessary there), I got an extension cord and filled up the tub to a reasonable level for one person to bathe (it is a lot of water for this one!)... The heater went in (as pictured) and after a few minutes I checked to make sure the tub wasn't being damaged by the heat. The heating was evident by the boiling action (bubbles) around the heating element. But what concerned me was how warm the electric cord and the electric wall socket got. Right there I knew this thing was certainly *not messing around* and would probably run up the electric bill quicker than just about any other appliance in the house! Though, I assumed I would only run it for a short period, and it wouldn't be a huge addition on the electric bill... I was sorely mistaken! So I came back 15 minutes later, unplugged and tested the water... still cold. Gave it another 60 minutes and checked again: Luke warm... SMH After considering scrapping the whole idea I let it boil for another 60 minutes just for testing purposes... Then CHECKED again and now it was reasonably warm but not close to what you get from the faucet. Water would get cold quickly once you hop in the tub even at the temperature that this device produced in 2 hours, and running the heater while you are in the water is definitely not adviced. I was very dissapointed with the outcome of my test. But then again, I was heating up a lot more water than that of a regular bath tub. The small control box on the heater is actually a huge improvement over all the other ones that don't have it. Well worth the premium price IMO. Being able to switch the unit on and off from the box is a must to prevent sparks as the amount of energy coursing through that cord is substantial. Unfortunately for me, I will need to search for a different solution to my needs. Immersive heaters are not suited for the task. But I can say that this heater is probably one of the best anywhere. ... show more

  • Warm
The heater went out on my hot tub. My friend told me to just get one off Amazon. I found this product and bought two bc she paid $40 for one and I paid that for two. Same Wattage and all. I only used one yesterday while I was cleaning up my yard and with in 2 hrs my water was descent. I can't wait to use both of them. Just can't get in it while you have the heaters in the water. ... show more

  • Complete garbage
Originally purchased this item and the element burned out in two weeks. Had them send me a replacement element and it lasted a little over a month. I would never buy this product again.

  • Poor instructions, Doesn't Seem to Work Well
The instructions are useless and not written in clear, uniform English. The product has a very short cord so anticipate needing an extension cord (preferably GFI protected). Product did not work very well. To heat up water, I could boil it on stove faster in a small pot and for less energy bill cost. ... show more
