🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Meta Quest 3 is a substantial leap from the Quest 2, with advanced features and improvements in display quality, audio, hand gestures and VR/AR experience. Despite some hardware drawbacks such as fuzziness around the corners, and draining battery life, most users feel it is a decent bang for their buck. Enthusiasts find that the higher resolution, the pancake lenses, and the higher refresh rate lead to significant improvements in their VR experience which is worth the investment.

Pros

  • 👍 Substantial improvement in audio and display quality.
  • 👍 Higher resolution and refresh rate provides smoother VR experience.
  • 👍 Passthrough feature is appreciated for its novelty and usefulness.
  • 👍 Hand gestures enhance the player's interaction with the VR environment.
  • 👍 Enjoyable for multimedia users with enhanced color balance and field of vision.

Cons

  • 👎 Color distortion and fuzziness around the corners can disrupt the VR experience.
  • 👎 Battery life is short and the headset fails to charge with the short included cable.
  • 👎 White color of the headset makes it more susceptible to visible dirt and UV sunlight over time.
  • 👎 Eye-strain and dizziness may be experienced after using the device for extended periods.
  • 👎 Some feel extorted at the option of paying extra for more storage.

Should I Buy It?

If you are an enthusiastic VR user or a multimedia lover looking for an elevated experience, the Meta Quest 3 is worth considering, despite its shortcomings. It requires some additional investment for comfort accessories and storage space, but the enhanced features it offers, warrants the upgrade.

  • Wow! This Headset is Amazing! Experience Well Worth the Investment!
Size: 512GB Style: Headset + Controllers, Refreshed Packaging
This is my first experience with VR/AR/MR, as I chose to wait until the graphics were more impressive (actually, I've been waiting quite a long time... since VR conversations became fairly commonplace with the release of the Sega Genesis! Yeah... I'm that old.). I'm so glad I started with this unit (Meta Quest 3) because I was truly blown away right from the start! The setup process was easy enough, though it had its quirks (I used an e-mail setup since I don't use Facebook). In setting up the MQ3 via my phone, I noticed I had to close the app twice to get it to resume where it left off (when you close/reopen, it recognizes you were not done and resumes without issue, so try that if you get stuck). I've only had it for a few days and am blown away by the Batman app (I don't like fighting games, but this is mostly exploring with relatively little fighting), Red Matter (incredible experience; finished it yesterday!), Red Matter 2 (started today and am already hooked!), and I really love the Supernatural: Unreal Fitness program! The first two apps were free (Batman is included in the package I bought here, and Red Matter (the 1st one) came with the free Quest+ trial subscription, and I paid for the latter two. The Unreal Fitness program is $10/month, and totally worth it! You can't know/understand until you try it, and they do give you a free week trial, btw. I am a runner (all my life) and enjoy staying in shape, and this fitness program is amazing, as they drop you in different (beautiful!) places around the world, and the music is great and the movement patterns are really fun (honestly, I didn't think I'd like it at first, as it sounded boring... but I'm so glad I kept an open/curious mind and tried it out!). The graphics on the games is so detailed, right down to chipped paint and curling wallpaper on walls, etc... and I love the intuitive movements... I'm the guy who will squat down in these games to check under chairs and desks for clues, and it's just so amazingly realistic! I did begin to feel somewhat panicked the first time I crawled out of the window in Batman and looked down into the alley from several stories up (and when I entered that huge generator room in Red Matter), but that just added to the experience and believability, so I'm more impressed by it than bothered! In fact, I was so impressed with the overall experience that I bought a set for my wife (she likes it, too) and another for my parents so that they can try it out! Highly recommended! I also bought the Elite Strap Battery for more comfort and to add more play time and I'm glad I did, so consider getting one of those, too (or a similar device). Oh, and you'll need a rubber/silicone cover for the mask part (that touches your face) to protect that cloth from sweat (not sure why they put cloth there... odd). Anyway, enjoy! I certainly am! ... show more

  • The Quest 3 is the best looking headset under $1000, it's worth it even if you only ever use PCVR.
Size: 512GB Style: Headset + Controllers
Buy the Quest 3, DO NOT BUY THE QUEST 2. I still use my Quest 2 it's great but I don't care how cheap it is, the Quest 3 is that much better in both performance and visuals. Even games not updated still look and play smoother. The Quest 3 is good enough to get into VR gaming without a PC. The Quest 1 felt like a gimmick , the Quest 2 was good but still felt compromised but the Quest 3 (while obviously not as a good the average PCVR gaming pc) is able to get much closer and provide a PCVR like experience on newer games. Mixed reality was not something I was interested in but after trying it I think it's awesome, even if you consider it a gimmick it's very cool and fun tech. As someone who really only cared about PC based VR gaming I've been very impressed with the Quest 3. After going on a VR binge in 2019 and some of 2020 I've mostly only played VRChat now but because of the Quest 3 I started exploring VR games again trying out new and old games and even mixed reality stuff too. It's that good but I'd recommend an aftermarket headstrap. The included headstrap seems pretty bad but if you fiddle with it A LOT it can get comfy. Also I returned my 128GB model and bought the 512GB one. It should not cost that much more in price but honestly there's so much cool stuff and games are slowly getting bigger. If you have fast internet , you can buy the 128GB and be fine. There's tons of amateur and professional unboxing videos of the Quest 3 that you can look at if you want to see what it looks like. As for what it's like to buy and own it? It's amazing. Background info: I've been a computer based VR player since 2017 when I got the original Oculus Rift also known as the CV1 on a Black Friday sale. Since then I've bought an Index in 2020 with vive trackers for full body tracking, a Quest 1 as a backup headset, a Quest 2 and now a Quest 3. I have about 6000 hours in VR 5000 of that is in VRChat. Review: The Quest 3 is incredible. It's my first VR headset that uses pancake lens and it's beautiful. I dabbled in standalone gaming on my Quest 2 with games like Resident Evil 4 VR and Iron Man VR which were both great. Iron Man felt a little held back resolution wise with aggressive foveated rendering BUT THE Quest 3 fixes that mostly with higher resolution in literally everything. Everything from the interface to all old and new games feel snappy. I started playing mixed reality mini games like the Ghost Busters one and Synth Riders and the free built in Alien one and everything has been super cool. it's all surprisingly fun. Audio is also great, about as good as the Index. The whole thing feels more reliable though as my Index cable is annoying with how heavy and thick it is. I'm on my third cable in 3 years and still the Index needs to be unplugged sometimes to make it work. I've had no such problems on my Quest 2 and Quest 3. The only reason I still use my Index is for easy full body tracking in VRChat otherwise I play everything on my Quest 3. ... show more
