  • Relaxing Yet Challenging Experience
Style: Honey Workshop
Sized somewhere between polly-pocket small and LEGO mini, these building bricks are good quality, and the set is engaging. It is recommended for ages 6 and up, however, the way some of the moving parts are put together 6 is probably too young. While LEGO has their brick bags organized so you can complete a section 1 bag at a time, this brand does not seem to have the same degree of organization so there is just as much of a traditional Puzzle feel to completing the set which I like. I ended up dumping all my pieces onto a dinner plate but will be using something else next time so my pets don't try to help me and knock the pieces out. If the product packaging was changed a bit to resemble a puzzle box then the company would be providing a great reservoir to keep all the pieces together while assembling. I did end up with some extra pieces, however, I am certain I didn't miss anything in the build so I am grateful such a variety of extra pieces were provided in case something went missing. Will update with a photo but want to finish my other sets first! Highly recommend, the only reason I gave 4/5 Stars for "Easy to Assemble" is because the pieces are small, and assembling and attaching the roofs and honey hive without knocking off the section I had already attached was difficult and did require some finagling and slight alterations to the directions to make enough space for me to fit everything. The bucket handles are also a bit flimsy so the bees fall off if they are bumped. ... show more

  • Good Quality Micro Set
Style: Takoyaki Shop
Pros- nice packaging, no missing pieces, came as advertised and came with a little block remover tool that sorta works. Instructions were pretty clear and colored. End result was cute. Cons- coloring on the instructions made it a little hard to tell the difference between some of the small brown pieces if you don’t pre sort, pieces are bagged into groups but not based on step- likely based on some kind of manufacturing sorting. Instructions were on a giant fold out sheet on both back and front instead of a booklet. Notes: not LEGO. It is a micro set, they are small pieces. I don’t think it’s appropriate for the avg 6year old. pieces are difficult to adjust if you mess up. This is a nice micro set to start on as it can be completed in a reasonable time frame but in no way would I recommend for a child doing this for the first time. ... show more

  • Perfect to kick off a new found love of block building
Style: Izakaya Shop
Let's start with the packaging which was shiny and just perfect as a wow gift for anyone who loves Japanese culture and loves building pretty things. This took me about 7 hours to put together and it just looks great on my shelf. When it's closed, it's no wider than a cell phone screen, and no taller. I've already ordered the Takoyaki Shop with my eyes on other sets. The price point was just great and I am really happy overall. My one gripe were the color similarities in the pieces: it took a bit to get use to and I had to refer to the box for colors. This was only an issue at the beginning, and once I caught on, it was smooth sailing. I am only mentioning this because I don't want people to be frustrated with this set. Take your time and you'll really enjoy it. Make sure to have tweezers on hand for the stickers! Also, they include their own sized brick separator tool which was fantastic. ... show more

  • Takes a ton of patience!
Style: Noodle Shop
I just finished the Noodle Shop (the, um, river snail noodle shop), which was my sixth and last in this specific series of street view shops that hinge open. I have enjoyed all of these kits, knowing what I was getting myself into and being blow away by the detail. However... Both this kit and the Lemon Tea shop have a different style of stickers from the other four kits in the series. IN these two sets, the stickers are more like transfers: they have a clear film over them that lifts the decal and then you place it on the piece and pull the film off. Annoying, although it looks good on windows and such. The problem is, you rarely, if ever, get a second chance at placing them, and the decals themselves are fragile. They also like to pop off the sticker sheet when you are getting a diferent sticker, and if they land anywhere on that sheet than the blank space they came from, kiss that decal good-bye, because it will stick to the clear film FOREVER. The instructions in the Noodle Shop are also the least clear, with very few of the sticker numbers noted, which left me guessing which sticker to use in several cases (and often guessing wrong). Again: patience! These last two sets were also the only two where I had missing pieces, and, sadly, the Noodle Shop is the only one where I was missing a piece that is not only distinctive, but right on the front of one of the signs. Oh well. As my wife says, no one will even notice but me. That having been said, these are all fantastically detailed, but definitely not for young kids. Switching back to the market-leading brand, those bricks feel a little oversized now! ... show more

  • A bit mind blowing
Style: Chinese
I would recommend this as a puzzle when you’re sick in bed with flu, which is how I used it. It’s so well designed and nothing can prepare you for how tiny it is. It’s really a special little design, the instructions are t always clear in terms of the exact shade of the brick you’re meant to use, so go careful! Much too tiny for young kids I would say, but for older kids and adults looking for a wholesome little challenge this kit is really something. ... show more
