This file cabinet is beautiful and well constructed. It arrived fully assembled and carefully packed. Unboxing and setup took only a couple minutes. My one issue with the product is that the sliders underneath each of the mesh organizer cubes are not attached to the frame. From the design in the photos, I had assumed these were on a track that would give each module the stability to slide in and out without being removed from the unit. But in reality, you must slide each organizer out of the rack, then fully remove it from the unit in order to access your files. Since I only need to add or remove files from this unit a couple times a week, this isn't a big deal. But if I needed to use it multiple times a day, it would significantly lower my satisfaction and the usability of this cabinet. ... show more

    • Beautiful non-traditional filing cabinet
I love this filing cabinet it is exactly what I needed. I needed a cabinet where the files are sideways because of where I was placing it, (don't have room to stand in front of it) it is a very attractive piece of furniture, which was a must since I was looking for something for my dining room. I love that the baskets come out and can be carried around. However, if you're not really looking for the "mobile" feature (I was) you might find the instability of the baskets annoying. Since the drawers can detach, you can't really pull them all the way out without them falling, there's no structural support for that like a regular cabinet. I really am SO happy with my decision, but definitely be aware of those features. ... show more

    • Pretty storage, not for accessing often
This filing cabinet-like piece is definitely very eye pleasing, but it’s not very practical as a filing cabinet. Once the baskets are full of files, it becomes very awkward to add things to the files that are in there. The “handles” make noises like they may break under the pressure of the weight of the files. And I have to either lift the entire basket out and onto another surface or use bad body mechanics to awkwardly hold the basket nearly all the way out of the cabinet, but precariously on the very edge of the shelf in order to add things to a file. This is not at all practical as a true filing cabinet. I would recommend others use it more as storage, for items you will not need to access more than once or twice a year. ... show more

I was a little worried about the baskets not being on a track like a typical drawer would be but I have had no problem at all! good quality, came as described.. light but sturdy. would recommend

    • Brad’s or screws need to be used to make this item stronger.
Upon opening the shipping box, I attempted to lift the item out of the box. Upon doing so, One side of the top broke free from the frame below. The only thing holding the top down on the frame below is glue. The glue failed. No Brad‘s or screws were involved in its construction.

Product was packed & shipped well. Good value for the price, it looks great from 15 ft away. Closer, it is made of light painted wood but cut to size after painting, so there are little places that needed touching up. Used a black felt tip pen on the inside corners. Great if you don't want to deal with assembling, and it is straight and plumb and not wobbly at all. The gliding mechanism for the file baskets consists of two wood pieces glued onto the bottom of the basket meant to slide over a felted piece of tape adhered to the bottom shelf. I absolutely love this file cabinet! It is spacious and exactly what I was looking for. The bins slide out easily so that I can take them elsewhere to work on my bills and filing. It is also very pleasing to the eye . I use the bottom bin to store toys for grandson’s visits. The top bin holds my organized bills and documents with plenty of room. I am thinking about buying another Birdwalk Home File And Storage cabinet for my husband. It blends well with my southwest decor. I recommend it highly. ... show more
