I bought 2 rods 2 weeks ago and hung a 1.2 pound blackout curtain on each. The rods took about 5 minutes to install and were simple. Instructions were in Japanese, but the pictures are pretty clear. So far, they've served their purpose. Update: 3 months later and these rods have not once fallen or slipped. These tension rods don’t really have much spring to them. They are twist-to-adjust, but once you have the right length and are push in to place, it unscrews and becomes loose again. Would not recommend.

I don't know what rods all these people giving them 5 stars were getting, but they sure weren't the ones I got. They do not actually have any tension when expanded, and start slipping the moment you're not supporting them yourself. And if you so much as breath in their direction, they come clattering to the floor, even without anything hung on them. I can't imagine how they have the gall to suggest these can support anything hanging on them when they can't even support their own weight. These are absolutely useless. Don't waste your money unless you're just looking for a couple of really expensive sticks. ... show more

Great product for short sheers but nothing heavier. Had to go out and purchase a different rod to hang my 43” kitchen curtains. They were not heavy but caused the middle to bend downward. Again product would be alright for only the lightest sheers and than only if you were not opening and closing the sheers since it might cause the rod to fall. ... show more

For the price that I paid, I wasn't expecting much at all. In fact, I was expecting to have to return them but when I tested one in my daughter's bedroom, it seemed like it will be ok. Her curtains are lightweight darkening curtains and are currently being held up just fine with clothespins so I am pretty sure these will work fine. I love how easy they are to put up and take down by myself. As far as actual sturdiness, they are a bit flimsy and I wouldn't mess with them when they are up there. ... show more

    • These Rods Simply Don't Work Well

The rods are made of thin, light gauge metal and are very cheaply constructed. The spring tension mechanism is a great concept in theory, but these rods don't work well in practice. The spring easily becomes "un-sprung" and the rods fall down if they are bumped, even slightly. Part of the problem is the cheap plastic caps at the ends of the rods. They don't provide enough "grip" on whatever surface the rods are attached to, thus allowing the spring to easily become un-sprung. The caps don't provide enough friction to keep the springs tight and the rods in place. I would not buy this item again. They are not 100% useless, but pretty close. ... show more
