My husband and I drink both red and white wine. It is nice to have a decanter specifically for white wine. This decanter has a functional and beautiful design. It looks great on my glass shelf in my built in cabinets. The design also seems to help the glass decanter aerate the white wine. It is a little scooped in on the bottom instead of lying flat. The glass feels substantial and high quality without being too heavy to pour. The lid fits perfectly on the top-a tight fir, but not too tight that it is hard to pull off. A very lovely decanter. Villeroy & Boch always produce items with unusual but tasteful shapes, and this decanter is no different. It's labeled as dishwasher safe, but to be quite honest, I'm too nervous to toss this in a dishwasher...but that's my issue. But it gives you an idea of how nice this looks. It has an elegance you associate with crystal, but is much sturdier and heavier. You won't be afraid, for example, to use when outside on your patio, for example. It's got a sturdy feel to it. My only issue is the lid. It fits very loosely. While I don't need something that's tight like a cork, this lid is purely ornamental. It rattles around slightly on the bottle when you carry it. I've always wanted a fancy glass to store whiskey in. This type is more so designed for wine, but I'm assuming it'll be fine for liquor as well. The glass itself is relatively small, but the packaging it came in was large with industrial bubble wrap. And the boxed again in a larger box. It was quite funny opening up to find such a small glass, but the glass arrived perfectly. The quality of the product shoes immediately and has a nice elegant feel to it. A glass lid is also included to keep things out when not in use. The product is imported from Europe and has hand-made with premium lead-free crystal glass. You can't tell it from the Amazon description, but this decanter is a good deal wider in one dimension than the other. The measurements are 6-1/4" side to side, 4" front-to-back, and 10-7/8" tall without the lid, 11-1/4" with. The base, main body and neck have oval cross-sections, the top is round. It's an elegant shape, though not the one I expected. There are prominent, smooth seams on each side. The lid is loose-fitting. Mine has a tiny but quite visible bubble in it. Medium weight, should hold up well to little accidental bumps. Came very well packed in a box inside a box inside a box. Between the inner two boxes was the most heavy-duty bubble wrap I've ever seen, seems to be made of Kevlar. Made in Turkey. ... show more

Very nice decanter from Villeroy & Boch. This Purismo White Wine decanter is great for easy pouring and storing back in the fridge or on ice. It seemed almost small to me compared to my huge aerator decanter for red wine. But it easily holds a 750 ml bottle. It pours easily and its slender shape makes holding and pouring a cinch. My only slight negative is that the glass cap seems to be more of an afterthought. It will only sit loosely on the top of the decanter. Any tilt and this will fall off. It is not a stopper at all. Good to keep flying insects out when on the picnic table. Very nice glass level without being lead crystal and heavy. Dishwasher safe which is a plus. ... show more

Smallish sized vessel just large enough to hold a bottle of wine. In the photo it looks round but It's somewhat flattened and stylish. Looks nicer on the table than a wine bottle and can be left to chill in the fridge. The stopper is really a dollop of glass shaped to cover the top, it doesn't actually seal in any way but works well. Glass seems sturdy. This is good for holding white wine that doesn't need to breathe like a red, which is why red wine decanters are larger. ... show more
