  • Was not a lucky one, run out issue.
Reviews varied widely (even on the PSI site) regarding run out. Decided to take a chance and the one I received had a total of .018 run out on gauge pin. Additional readings; chuck body .016, adapter .001 with a face run out of .003 (contributing factor). Installed another chuck on the adapter and had similar readings in the same locations. Mounted a straight edge along the threaded post and visually can see a wobble which corresponded to the high and low readings (primary cause). Strategically placed a shim of .005 between adapter and chuck with results of .001 on pin. For me not returning, this is a cost effective way to increase my versatility for my pneumatic drum sanders to use on my lathe. On another note, any good machinist knows relying on threads alone for precision alignment is not the best. ... show more

  • Nice and Precise
I mounted it, chucked a 16 inch drill bit, turned the lathe and no runout at the tip of the bit.

  • I love it.
It does everything as advertised and couldn't be easier to use. The best feature of this or any Headstock Mount chuck is the fact that the Morse Taper type drill chucks can come loose (I have experienced this first hand) so that is really not a good option. Morse Taper chucks are for the tailstock, this one is for the headstock. I will remember that. My bad. ... show more

  • Sloppy fit on the chuck key
The chuck key has a sloppy fit and is unacceptable. Very little runout, so I'll have to look for a correct chuck key and live with it!

  • An essential for a woodturner
This is a very nice chuck. Sometimes, you need to mount a chuck on the drive end of a lathe. This is the way to do it. I use it for many things.
