  • Patience required
So I've been on the fence about one of these for a little while now. I wanted to do something with my system, but not anymore equipment upgrades. So I decided to make this purchase. I didn't want to spend six or $700 on a helix so I went with this. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but perfect for what I was looking for. At first I wasn't a full believer. Just couldn't seem to get the sub to sound much better than it did before. Well, after some patience and some tweaking, you can believe I'm a full believer now! WOW! It seems to me, and I know this doesn't really make much sense, but it almost seems like this needs some breaking in. It just seems to sound better all the time. I'm doing everything by myself and by ear. I'm not investing in mics and all that other stuff, just not that important to me. Been playing around with the time alignment and oh my God it sounds incredible. Still obviously in the tuning mode but this is proving to be very well worth the money paid. I'm running one Alpine dual voice coil sub at 1 ohm and I cannot believe I'm getting this sound out of one 12" sub. Any problems I'll be back with an update. Oh, and also, no engine noise. ... show more

  • Wow the sound quality you can get with this thing!
This is my first DSP and I wish I would have ran one of these when I first started into car audio.

  • Well worth the money
My first DSP. I think it’s well worth the money for time alignment and reducing the number of rca’s I have to run to trunk. Remote turn on sequencing is pretty cool but whatever. Controlling gain and volume individually is nice but I guess time alignment is pretty much the main benefit. I haven’t tried messing with the eq but I guess that would be other important thing. I do have an engine whine coming through my speakers but I’m not sure the cause yet. The dsp would be third or fourth guess of what the problem is. Update 8/14/2021: Even more happy with this unit as I now use all 8 channels and understand all of it's features. I don't know how I got rid of the engine whine but was not from the dsp. It disappeared after I got new speakers and rewired everything. The crossovers are probably the most useful thing. I figured out how to tune it which is nice. I now use it to it's full potential. I just looked up rta tuning videos on Youtube and use an iphone app as an rta while I play pink noise through the tool on this dsp. ... show more

  • Amazing for the $$$
I just want to first say this is an amazing value for the money. After a few days of playing around with it I was able to improve the SQ of my car 10 fold. I’ve never done any car electrical wiring but I was able to install this with ease, especially because I already had an amp installed. I took the 8 gauge power wire off the amp, connected it to a power distribution bus bar, then ran power back to the amp and to a fuse block, and from the fuse block to the DSP. I went with this over the Dayton offering mainly because this offers a higher voltage output and I wanted a stronger cleaner signal over greater tuning capabilities, also the Dayton seems to be hit or miss on adding noise based on the reviews. With that said there are some quirks. I’ve only have had this unit for a week and I’ve already had the menu go dead on me while making adjustments. Turned off my car and it came right back, but is concerning with only having it going for a few days. Also I don’t think the pink noise generator is accurate pink noise. I tried tuning based on the device’s built in pink noise and gave myself quite the headache trying to figure out how the sq was getting worse despite achieving my ideal frequency curve. Played a different pink noise sample and got it tuned near perfection in less than 15 min. With near perfect being said…It does only have 13 bands and only able to set a single parametric eq. Therefore you can only achieve so much. If close enough is good enough for you, I’d go ahead and buy based on the cost to performance ratio. Overall if you’re wanting a DSP that will get your car audio tuned to 80-90% of perfect this is a must buy for $150. I can now play almost crystal clear music to the point where signal distortion clipping occurs. I’m extremely happy with the performance and highly recommend! Edit: 4-27-22 After further diving into the world of sound engineering, I’ve been able to even further increase the quality of sound from my setup because of this device. I still think it’s only 4 stars, because it lacks detailed customization, and quality of life features. However if you know or are willing to learn the nuances of sound frequencies this thing is incredible for the money. Biggest requests would be more than just a single parametric eq channel and a wireless ability to change between saved eq settings. I’ve essentially spent a good 40hrs tweaking everything to fit as many music styles and ages as possible, because switching genres or listening to music made for radio can sound horrible if you tune only using pink noise, and without an option to changes custom presets you’re f***** if you have an eclectic taste in music. After spending 40hrs tuning, I’m about to spend another 40hrs learning how to hack this thing to enable this feature 😅 ... show more

  • Disappointed
It had a really tinnie sound that I could not get to sound better, I changed everything I could think of. Then this morning I got in the car and nothing. Would not turn on. I checked to make sure it still had power and it did, just wouldn't turn on. This is my second cheap DSP, I tried a Expert Bluetooth one a while ago and that had so much noise it was crazy. I'm not a pro but I have common sense and know how to run rcas properly and hook up electronics. ... show more
