  • Small initial problem, promptly resolved
Size: 51.7CC 2-Cycle
10/14/24 - Update Contact from proyama sent a replacement trigger piece pretty promptly once initial contact info was navigated. Their customer service can be reached at customerservice@proyamatools.com. Very quick to respond once contacted appropriately. Service department is sending a new trigger part and threw in weed eater head as spare. Used brush blade for around 3 hours today, with manipulated throttle cable. This thing is nice, plenty of power to spare, runs great, starts easy. IT's a bit heavy for normal residential use, but I bought this for small saplings and ditch reclaiming. Works great for heavy work and balances nice with the harness. Setup, start and idle works fine, but DOA due to misassembly. The throttle lever piece has a very delicate little protrusion that captures the throttle cable end and this was broken as received thus allowing idle only. ... show more

  • Great value
Size: 51.7CC 2-Cycle
This unit has plenty of power. Large gas tank. Easy to put together. It obviously it fairly heavy, but that is to be expected with a motor this large. The harness it comes with is not the greatest but it comes free with the unit so no complaints on that I’m just going to buy a harness that is a little mor comfortable and fits better. It would probably fit much better on someone taller than myself. But as far as the unit itself goes it has a great quality feel . Runs like a champ. I highly recommend any of the Proyama equipment. I have yet to be disappointed. ... show more

  • Heavy, but powerful!
Size: 42.7CC 2-Cycle
Here’s my honest review of this Proyama 42.7cc Extreme Duty line trimmer: Let’s start with the Cons: #1: The packaging wasn’t anything to write home about. The box was just held shut with the cardboard flaps, no tape and could have easily come open in shipment. The accessories and tools were scattered about inside the box and only a few pieces of cardboard for protection. Thankfully nothing was missing or damaged. #2: The instructions were very poorly written and not very clear as how to assemble the unit. The shoulder harness was very confusing to put on and adjust. Once I figured out how it went on, it took three tries to get it adjusted to my height. Also, there’s not enough padding on the harness to comfortably hold the trimmer. The strap on that wraps around your back and attaches to the plastic shroud that holds the trimmer digs into your side! #3: The handlebars was awkward to put on and adjust also. The clamp that holds them to the shaft had to be completely removed in order to slide it into position due to two pieces of rubber that holds it in place that doesn’t slide. That took another 3 tries! And after over an hour of adjustments, I was able to get it adjusted and balanced to my liking. #4: This thing is very heavy! I’m 6’ and 280lbs and feels heavy even for me. If not properly adjusted and balanced, it fatigue you very quickly! Now for the Pros: #1: After filling the tank with the proper fuel mix and primed it with about 6 pumps, it started right up after 3 pulls. After the engine was run and warmed up, it started on the first pull every time after it was shut off and the engine is surprisingly quiet also. The engine also seems to to have a good bit of power. And the fuel tank also holds a generous amount of fuel. #2: I have only used the string trimming attachment, and it worked as it should. The string advance system also worked good. My Conclusion: Weighing the Cons with the Pros, I’m satisfied with the unit. Only time will tell as to how well it will hold up with use. I would have given it another half star if it came with a better more padded and comfortable harness. And if it was easier to adjust. The ease of starting and power is its best feature. ... show more

  • Lot's of power, worst manual in history, bad customer service, terrible product.
Size: 42.7CC 2-Cycle
Review update: After a few uses, the tube covering the shaft failed where the two pieces joined. It took over a month to get the problem fixed. First I emailed the company and did not hear back. Later they informed me that my email went into their junk folder. They offered to send me a used replacement part, but I held out for a new one. It worked with the new part, but vibrated a lot. The gasket on the shaft fitting wanted to come out (see photo) I have only used this trimmer about 30 times, and today the vibration suddenly got very bad , like something was out of balance. I looked down, and lubricating oil was coming out of the fitting where the two shafts join (see picture). The only opinion I can offer is that the poor customer service is exceeded only by the terrible quality of the product itself. The good: - Very powerful. I was able to cut through thickets of blackberries, stems up to an inch and a half in diameter, with no problems. I bumped a cedar fence picket by accident, and it cut right into it. - Comes with lots of accessories. - For me it started easily every time. Others have indicated it floods easily. I give the fuel pump two presses, pull it one time with the choke on, and then once with the choke off. It has always started on the second pull - The included fuel bottle makes it easy to mix the oil and gasoline in the proper ratio (fill the two compartments appropriately and then pour the whole thing into the fuel tank. The bad: - The manual makes ikea instructions look like a NASA manual. The depiction of how the handlebars go on was different in different pictures. It took me several tries to get the handlebars on correctly and figure out how to get the nut off the end of the shaft (there is a hole in the housing through which you can insert a small rod or phillips screwdriver and insert it also into a matching hole in the shaft to hold the shaft in place while you loosen the nut). I wasted an hour or so figuring out how to assemble it. Thank you youtube for saving me. - There is foam padding on the shaft above the handlebars. I braced the shaft against my hip or thigh during use, and the padding tore and fell off after an hour or so. - The blade guard can be a hinderance in brush. - It vibrates a lot, which is expected, but be prepared for residual muscle and finger numbness and shakiness after using it for a while. The bottom line: It works great, and for me has been worth the price and hassle. I have only used it with the chainsaw tooth blade on Himalayan blackberries. But it laid waste to the brambles with no hesitation or resistance. I was able to sweep it back and forth through brambles up to 6 feet high and left behind a trail of foot long stem chunks. You definitely want to respect this machine. It can kickback. It can throw debris. It is noisy. And if it hit a body part, it would do serious damage. Heavy clothes, googles or a face shield, and good ear plugs are all musts. The harness has a crotch protector for a reason. The goggles that come with it were too cheap for me to trust. ... show more
