I was really nervous to purchase this cage due to all the one star reviews, but I decided that for the great price it was worth a gamble. I am so glad I bought it. It's a gorgeous cage and looks excellent in the corner. It arrived at nearly 1 pm with FedEx.. I took it out of the huge box using a pair of scissors. I had it all out in under 8 minutes. The directions were a little scary, but I'm a college-educated woman. I could figure it out. I had it completely assembled in 50 minutes with no help. I don't understand reviews complaining that it took hours to put together. Were you watching tv while doing it? The directions are not by any means detailed, but if you double check where you're putting things and use your brain you'll do it right the first time. Some of the bars were indeed bent. But, they were easily put back in place. The box arrived in decent shape. The way they packed it could have been better. I bought this cage for my rats and they LOVE it. The overall quality of the cage is A+. The wheels are a ball of rubber that quietly and smoothly glide across the floor. I highly recommend this cage for animals you can litter train. ... show more

    • A great home for chinchillas =)
After getting 3 chinchillas a couple weeks ago, I was in the market for a more functional and nicer looking home for them. I love how this cage fits nicely in a corner and has the pull out litter pan. The color of the cage is charcoal gray, it's not a tacky looking gray either. Completely assembled, the cage is about 5 1/2 feet high. It does have about 18 inches of storage space at the bottom, so the cage itself it probably closer to 4 feet high. Assembly was fairly easy, I put the cage together on my own, in about 35 minutes. It gives my 3 chinchillas plenty of room to hop around. I use the bottom storage space for their food and treats. The wheels and the cage are very sturdy. The cage is a bit noisy when my chins run around in it, but at least they seem to enjoy it. I put a hammock between the first and second levels for their safety. If one of them falls, I don't want them to get hurt by falling from the top level to the floor. The cage is easy to move around if needed. I have nothing but great things to say about the cage itself, but I had to give my review 4 stars because of the damages that occurred during its shipment. It's nothing major, the box arrived at my front door with holes up to 14 inches long. I opened the box and inventoried everything inside to make sure nothing fell out during shipment, everything was there. I inspected every piece for damages. There were 15 bent bars on the front piece of the cage and one bar was broken. I was able to bend the bars back into shape and the broken bar was covered up by a ledge. I didn't send it back to the manufacturer because I liked the cage. Although it was damaged, the damage was minimal. ... show more

I really wanted a large cage with a shelf under for my chinchilla. I was very apprehensive getting this one with all the negative reviews. I've had it over a month now and I am not disappointed that I got it. Yes, it had a couple of bars that looked like the might've gotten caught on something and bent a little. What the other reviewers are not telling you is that it's very light gauge wire. They bend back nice and easy and you cannot even tell were mine were bent. They even include a little touch-up paint just in case, I didn't need it but am saving it just in case. Pros: The openings on the bottom are small enough that my chinchillas feet are safe. The shelves are metal It's huge with plenty of space for more shelves and other fun toys. Pull out tray is super easy to clean, shelves are smooth so they wipe clean easily too. Cons: The one wheel in the middle in the front doesn't swivel, so when I move it around I have to pick it up a little otherwise it marks the floor. The shelves are too narrow with the ramps, it leaves only a few inches to get around the ramp. Since they were plastic anyways I just took them out. The spacing between shelves is small enough that he jumps from shelf to shelf no problem at all. All in all I just love the amount of space in this cage. It's absolutely great. He's up off the floor so my can't leave him alone and he's happier with all the space to jump around. ... show more

I gave this 2stars because its not a bad cage IF u have a ferret or something larger than a sugar glider. If you have sugar babies please do not buy this I got this for my baby's and the got out, then the dog killed 3 out of 4. My sugargliders r my babies that I have put thousands of dollers into and so much time, just to buy a cage the could get out of and die. Like I said the cage looks nice and is big so if u have slightly bigger pets this is a great deal, otherwise Don't. ... show more
