    • Good price for a new alternator but fit may be a problem
I would rate this alternator as five stars except for the following reasons. Shipping – When I ordered the alternator the first time, I received an email a few days later saying it was undeliverable and was being returned to the vendor. Amazon promptly refunded my money. I looked for other options but decided to try ordering this alternator again based on price and warranty for a new (not rebuilt) alternator. It arrived a few days later. The shipping route must have been through an active war zone in Ukraine because the box was seriously damaged including a large hole in one side. The inside of the box contained bubble wrap and shipping paper around a second Amazon box. I expected the alternator to be in the original box from the manufacturer. Instead, it was in a used Amazon box that had been resealed with clear shipping tape. The inner box was also damaged and had a large hole in one side. The only paperwork was the installation instructions; no invoice or even a packing slip. The installation instructions looked like they had been run over in the street a few times. The alternator was visibly damaged in two places. The threaded stud that holds the main battery cable with a nut was bent and the plastic ring at the base of the connector was broken. The drive pulley had a very small dent on the outer edge. However, I was able to get a tight connection with the cable and nut on the threaded stud and the pulley was not bent. So, I decided to give the alternator a try. Installation – Initially, I was unable to install the mounting bolt at the top of the alternator because the width of the top bracket on the new alternator was 0.012” wider than the original. There is a bushing in the bracket on the alternator that protrudes from the alternator body. I carefully ground the end of the bushing until the width was within 0.001” of the width on the original alternator. Then the alternator slipped into place. The new alternator runs smoothly and quietly. Realtime output using an OBD II scanner on my phone shows a steady 14.2-14.4 volts. As I said at the beginning, I would give this alternator five stars based on its performance. I took away one star for the terrible packaging and resultant damage. I took away another star since I had to do a small amount of machining to make the alternator fit. ... show more

    • Perfect for 2003 Isuzu Rodeo - 6 Cyl
It fit my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo...but I had to grind down the bolt insert as it protruded past the housing and would not fit inside the mounting hole brackets. Once I did that, it slid right in and was a piece of cake and started charging the battery.

    • Did not fix correctly
It is a well made unit and is still working well. But I had a very hard time installing it. It has a split pin inserted in the mounting hold that it pivots on and it was sticking out to far. I tried to press in with a vice and then hammer on it, it would not move. I had to grind it down in size to get the alternator to fit. ... show more

From start to finish this alternator is garbage... I lost my job because I purchased this alternator... It was verified over and over it would fit in my truck, 100 PERCENT DOES NOT. do NOT BUY FOR 1999 ISUZU RODEO. YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY AND TIME . I can't believe I lost my f&#@$ng job because I BOUGHT THIS ALTERNATOR... Doesn't work, doesn't fit, can not install, do not buy do not not not not buy this.... I'm now jobless and out the money I wasted on this p.o.s. 10 thumbs down -666 stars ... show more

    • Great product, horrible packaging.
Only issue was the packaging. The positive terminal was actually bent when I unpackaged the alternator. There was very little padding inside the box. Fortunately it wasn’t bent too bad and the alternator has worked flawlessly since installing it.

I think it’s a good quality for the price. Both manufacturer’s and Amazon’s packaging were very good, no problem at all. Received on Mar 20 and installed on Mar 21 2015. Initially I had a difficulty in fitting into the alternator support bracket due to tight clearance. Spending about half an hour, I was able to align the alternator bolt hole with the bracket bolt hole. I do not think there was any problem with alternator itself. The alternator was installed on 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, 3.2L V6 engine (6VD1). The battery charging indicator is no longer a problem. I am very pleased with the purchase.
