I'm using this to charge a LiFePO4 12v battery. In the sun, my panel, via the included charge controller, was delivering 13.25 volts to charge the battery. My only complaint with this kit is how the bracket attaches to the solar panel. It uses a bolt that goes into the back and the side of the panel, then uses a thumbscrew to secure the bracket. The inside bolt is hard to keep from rotating while the thumbscrew is tightened. I think a better design is warranted for that for portable use. If it's mounted permanently, this would not be so much of a problem. Overall, if you need a reasonable priced solar panel and charge controller, this is a good choice. ... show more

This small solar system was easy to set up and had clear instructions. With three colored led lights and plugs on the cords, it is very simple to run. There is a good length of cord, which was helpful as I moved it to find the sun throughout the day. I used it today to top off a couple 12 volt marine batteries. I look forward to trying this out in other applications, especially while fully off-grid. It would not be hard to use this, a car battery, a cheap cigarette lighter attachment, and a cigarette lighter adapter/inverter to charge phones and small electronics off-grid. I may also try this on a boat for the trolling motor battery. My only complaint is the bracket. One of the holes in the solar panel frame was very difficult to get the bolt through. The bolts don't tighten up enough to keep the bracket as rigid as I would like. ... show more

I like that this battery charger allows off-grid charging or convenient no power cord charging for a 12V battery system. If you have a boat, car, or camper that has a 12V battery and you don't use it that frequently the battery may drain from the electronics that use a small amount of power such as an alarm system or keyless remote system. This trickle charger uses a small 20W solar panel to maintain the charge on your battery so you don't run into the situation of a dead battery that won't start or run your electronic devices. The VoC voltage from the 20W panel when I measured in late October during midday sun was around 21.4 volts to 21.5 volts which is spot on the rated 21.6V listed for the panel. The output from the trickle charger was 18.8 volts without connection to a battery. Connected to a sealed lead acid 12V battery I was getting around 13.25 to 13.3 volts on battery while it was charging. The trickle charger has three diodes to indicate the status of the battery charger (connected, charging, charged) very self explanatory. I didn't have a current meter that could measure the exact current but on my power station I was getting around 13W of power from the panel without the charge controller. I swapped out the 20W panel with a 100W panel and the charge controller had no issues with the higher power panel. If your vehicle is on the street or outside in the backyard or at a lake where there's no easy to plug into the power grid you can use the free energy from the sun to maintain the charge on your 12V battery. I'm planning on using the charge controller with solar panel to keep the charge on a set of 12V sealed lead acid battery to power outdoor security lights on my storage sheds. It provides enough free power to keep the batteries charged and is very convenient because I don't have power in my two storage sheds and wanted lights for nighttime. ... show more
