I have NEVER had a repeal mower and I love it. I do wish it had options to make it go faster but that's okay. It does take some strength to pull it to get it started but once it gets going it is a good mower. Love that the thing comes basically fully assembled, had to pop the wheels on of course and stick the arm into the sockets (the part you actually hold while pushing) instructions are seriously simple a child could do it (provided you let them play with Legos occasionally) my fam has used this since the beginning of the summer for '24 and it's worked like a charm, it's a good amount of horse power and surprisingly easy to maneuver with the back wheel drive (feels a little funny the first time using it because it almost speeds away from you but it's really not too much to control, myself being taller it goes smoothly with my pacing and my dad being closer to average height neither of us had issues) not to mention it's a solid red colour and the appearance is about what you'd expect for a good quality mower. I anticipate getting at least 15 years out of the thing with being kept indoors when not in use (garage space or shed) would recommend if you aren't interested in getting an electric mower this one will def get the job done. ... show more

My mower went out so I needed to find an affordable one to use for a couple months. On the plus side, it is lightweight and easy to put together with a strong motor (144cc). Negative is the back guard is cheap and will not last and the side chute is small and easily gets stopped up. I've cut my grass three times. Normally I can cut my grass in 1.5 hours. With this mower, it takes me over 2 hours because it keeps getting jammed with grass and I have to stop, clear, and re-start. I first used the side chute. It is small and after about 20 feet it gets stopped up. Then after about 15 more feet the mower stops because it gets clogged with grass. I did not have this problem with my 125cc Murray motor. I have two areas in my yard where I planted zoysia grass. Those areas must be too thick with grass because the mower would get clogged and I have to walk very slow to prevent it from cutting off. Using the mulching option is pointless with thick grass. The guard on the back is thin and very flexible. If you pull the mower back, the guard will go under the blade. It lasted me 30 minutes before going under the motor and being chopped up. Luckily, it isn't needed because the back of the mower is low to the ground. This is the third mower I have purchased. It is the strongest but also it the most troublesome and the worst cut. Next year, I will be looking to see what Murray lawn mowers are on sale. Four months later, this mower is unusable. The plastic cannot handle the heat from the mower. One wheel broke off the front and the other is wobbly. The back guard broke off. I peg that holds the panel where the grass catcher attaches broke off so the panel can no longer be attached. The bottom of both sides of the handle at the bottom broke off. I contacted Amazon and PowerSmart was to get with me. They did not respond. The product is junk. It deserves less than one star. I wish I read the reviews at other sites. ... show more

Our 14 year old mower wouldn't start so it was dropped off to get repaired. I said: get a new one. He said: no it can be fixed. Me: it plows, not mows. He: we don't need a new one. Move ahead to six weeks later and no repaired mower yet. Grass was actually a foot tall. I shopped for mowers and bought this one. Arrived today. Easy to unfold and set up. He just finished mowing, in record time. To quote my husband: "this is the best mower I've ever owned. It's so light weight, started right up, well made,and cut through the long grass like nothing." He did not complain about any aspect of its design, including the grass catcher bag. And that was cutting a tall, tall, lawn. I'm looking forward to a mowed, not plowed yard this summer. This mower is easy to assemble as it comes packaged, with simple steps to follow to raise the handle, fill with fluids and make usable. It was easy to set the clips in place, add the side discharge chute, and start the mower. It started on the first pull. The only concern I have is that it's mostly plastic. It's a lot to pay for a mower made of plastic. It mows well but may need an adjustment to the speed of the self-propelled cable to slow it down a bit. ... show more

The mower is more powerful than my old mower but it goes too fast for me. I thought it was one that had gears to slow it down but I must have bought the wrong one. Also, when using to mulch, it dies frequently and it’s hard to crank back up. I’m not happy with this mower but it might be fine for a strong man.
