  • Easy Set Up if Done Right
This remote ID is a breeze to use. Installing it on my drone was easy, and charging it with the included cable was hassle-free. The battery life is fantastic, lasting through long flights without any issues. Plus, it turns on with a simple button press and automatically pairs with GPS signals, making the whole experience seamless. I highly recommend for Potensic drones. ... show more

  • Easy add-on Remote ID for drones
The media could not be loaded. I own a little practice drone that lacks Remote ID and wanted to be able to fly it legally now that Remote ID is finally required by the FAA as of March 2024. My little drone only weighs 193.6g which is well under the 250g limit for unregistered recreational drones. This little Remote ID module weighs a mere 19g so even with the module on my drone it is under the 250g limit. The module is very easy to use. There is a double sided adhesive patch for permanent installation on one drone or velcro patch for using it with different drones. There are only 2 of each and I'd have loved to see at least 5 velcro patches in case someone wants to use it with more than 2 drones. The adhesive rectangle fits right into a little indent in the bottom of the module which allows the module to sit closer to the drone. The velcro patches would add a little extra distance between drone and module but not too much. To use it, just push the button on the side and it will broadcast its ID. The battery lasts a good long time...4 hours according to the manufacturer. With the average flight time of a drone you could go through at least 4 drone batteries before the module would run out of charge. Charging it is fairly easy by lifting up a rubber cap on the side. This could have been designed better because the little rubber nub that is supposed to help you open it is located at the bottom right next to the surface of the drone. For me it was useless because there's not enough room to get a finger under it. I ended up using the tiny screwdriver I use to change drone props to kind of dig at it from the button side. That may damage the module port cover over time but I can't think of another way to do it. You may decide to use the velcro attachment method even if using with a single drone. That way you could lift the module away from the drone and be able to properly open the port cover. When it is broadcasting its ID, the little green light will blink. This is an easy way to confirm that it’s operating properly for flight. The 3 white lights above the green light show the level of charge. Overall I'm happy with the module. It's simple, light, and just works. ... show more

  • Not that easy to setup
OK so this Potensic remote ID module does work, I used a 3rd party app and I was able to see the information that the module is broadcasting, but the module is not easy to setup at all, first you have to use an actual computer to write the information to the module, which means if you fly multiple drones you cannot add the information of a different drone to the module when your out in the field flying, I am not sure why they don't have an app like other RID modules I use so you can writing the information to the module, another thing I am not a fan of is the size of this module, it is quite big and it looks very bulky on the drone, overall even though this module does work I would only recommend it if you only own 1 drone. ... show more

  • It works and it's easy to setup.
100% Works. First unit got bricked during firmware update and Potensic sent another one very quickly. Great customer support! I included a screenshot from the OpenDrone app for Android. There is also an app called drone scanner but it would not open on my Pixel 8 pro. These are the steps for setting up with no issues. 1. Charge the device. 2. Connect to a computer and go to the Potensic remote ID management system. 3. Allow the connection and select your device. 4. Make sure firmware is up to date. 5. Select your location and write applicable data. 6. Go outside and turn on your device. 7. Double click the power button while the device is on to enable Bluetooth pairing mode. 8. After connected to your mobile device, press the power button once. When green light is solid, press power button once to update location. 9. Use your chosen app, (I used OpenDrone for Android) and you should see you and your drone on a map like my 3rd image. It's very accurate. I did a loop around my yard and it looked good to me. ... show more

  • Potensic backs up their product.
I ordered this to insure I would be FAA Compliant with the new Remote ID rules. I have a number of older drones that will need to have this module attached. I saw Potensic offered this module as an inexpensive "fix" for the issue. I read reviews of their other products and it seemed they offered a quality product. I found out they have excellent support as well. I don't know why, but I was not able to properly update the Remote ID module. It just wasn't connecting to the net correctly and took over 10 minutes to update. Not sure what was going on, I contacted Potensic Support. Sent an email at night, had a response the next morning asking for additional information. I followed their directions, sent them a pic and that was it. They said the easiest thing to do was send me a new one. Np Hassles. No 'do this, do that" for days. They wanted to make sure I got what I needed and did it quickly. Try naming another company support department that fast and fair. Needless to say, I'll be getting anything to do with drones from Potensic for now on. ... show more

  • Fulfills the requirement
Small, lightweight, easy to configure, easy to mount device that fulfills the FAA requirement that all remotely controlled model aircraft over 250 grams and flown outside of a FRIA must adhere to.
