  • Impressive Power Inverter for the zprice
Size: 500W
Works great, haven't had any issues with blowing fuzes or it being too loud, however I've only powered about 15 watts through it. Also has three usb ports which is great for charging phones, although it isn't the fastest, it's still functional. Will continue to update review as I use the inverter.

  • Works great! Behind the 3rd seating row in the back ...
Size: 500W
Use this for tailgating at concerts. Works great! Behind the 3rd seating row in the back of my SUV, there's an available 12V (cigarette lighter-type connection) receptacle. I plug the 500W POTEK into that 12V input. I bring my powered PA mixer (200W per L/R channel), plug it into the POTEK's 110V outlet, connect 1 or 2 PA speakers, plug an iPod into one of the mixer's channels...instant ROCK! Nice, clean, loud tunes for DJ'ing the Heavy Metal Parking Lot. My friends love it. Powering a 200W mixer, the digital readout on the POTEK, even at our loudest, only peaked at around 70 or 80 watts usage. So it appears this could easily run an even more powerful amplifier, if needed. Running the 200W mixer, the POTEK barely breaks a sweat. It was plenty loud enough for the pre-show party. Being in a band, and already owning the PA mixer/speakers, the POTEK has enabled this option to use the gear I already own in a different way. Only possible negative to this application is, you should leave the car running if using it in this way for multiple hours. Probably would be too much of a draw on the battery after a while without the vehicle running. I believe the POTEK will shut itself off if the battery goes below 11V or so. I wouldn't want this unit automatically powering off, unpredictably at any point while providing tunes for a party. As long as you're outdoors and not sitting right on top of the vehicle's exhaust, you'll be fine. Longer speaker cables would even improve this, as you can space the speakers outside of the vehicle. I left the speakers in the car, and that was also fine. For the price and its functionality, I think this is a very useful and fun piece of equipment with many possible applications. I've never tried any other uses for it yet, but I'm confident it would do just as well with other purposes. Ultra-portable also. I keep it in its box, tucked away in the spare tire compartment, ready for use at any time. If you are tailgating with a bunch of friends before a concert, especially music-lovers, this is a fantastic little unit to have. Plus, you can charge cellphones via its 2 USB inputs. Awesome. ... show more

  • POTEK 500W Power Inverter Review
Size: 500W
I've had this thing hooked up to DC 24/7 for since as far back as 2016 maybe 2015 and it still works. Most small inverters I've had died in less than a year. It runs stuff like a dorm fridge and LED floor lamps, USB chargers, small fans, and battery chargers. I don't put a big load on it because the fan comes on around 100 watts. The weirdest thing about this is when I first got it I started to use it and I noticed I only had one alligator clip on the battery and it was still on. It took a clip off the battery about a week later to put a bigger clip on first and it was still on. I did a little test. I hooked up a 20" Walmart box fan to it to see how long it could go without being connected to the battery and it ran for a couple of minutes before it shut down. I thought maybe there was a common ground somewhere, but neither the fan nor the battery were grounded to the house. If there's a battery inside this thing, I wasn't able to charge it and by hooking it up with the clips and trying it again. When it dies I'm going to open it up and see if there's a small lithium polymer battery inside. If there is a battery inside it's dead now and the inverter still works OK. ... show more

  • a good deal for the price i paid
Size: 500W
it is easy to connect, easy to use, provides reliable current, and can handle my little bitty upholstery shampooer with ease. It does get hot, but not so hot that you cannot handle it bare-handed after you are done using it. I wouldn't use it with a draw over 120 watts for over an hour.

  • Excellent Power Inverter -- Great Value
Size: 500W
I liked this power inverter so much, I just ordered another one for my wife's car. This inverter gives you feedback on voltage input, voltage output, and wattage being used. I love that. You can instantly tell if the battery is too low to keep going. For example, a weak battery might register 11 volts. Maybe you ought to start the car to get the voltage up. If voltage drops below 10, the unit will not work. This unit tells you why it will not work. Another great feature is that it is very quiet. No fan running when wattage is below 150 watts, which is what it usually is when using through power adapter inside the car to charge phones and keep laptops going. There are two AC plugs and two USB plugs. The only negative I have about the unit is that the AC plugs fit very tight. It is hard to push them on. But that is very minor compared to all the pro's about the unit. I hooked it to battery directly with provided cables and it easily ran a drill. The drill peaked out over 500 watts, but when running steady, it drew just 310 watts according to the meter on this unit. The instant feedback on the power really helps. The case is very high quality plastic. I like this much better than the aluminum cases. The item came in a very nice box that I can use to store it in along with instruction manual and spare fuses. Four spare fuses are provided: two for the power adapter and two for inside the unit. The instruction manual is very good, briefly giving all the information you need to know about using this unit. If you are hesitant, don't be. I have used many inverters, and this one is a very good buy and performs great. See my attached photos for seeing the packaging, some pages from the instruction manual, and the readout from the unit when running a tablet inside the car and when running a drill outside the car, directly connected to the battery. Whenever using the unit for wattage that exceeds 150 watts, it should be connected directly to the battery to prevent blowing fuses in your car. Another great reason to get an inverter with some kind of readout concerning how much wattage your device or devices are drawing. ... show more
