The unit performs as well as an Evaporative/Swamp cooler should. The unit is not blowing AC cold air but is noticeably cooler than the air around it. I use in an office environment and with the unit blowing directly on me I will get cold after a bit. Its not terribly loud being no louder than a small desk fan. There were times the desk fan was not keeping me cool but this little "swamp" cooler is doing a better job. As long as you dont go in thinking your getting an AC cold unit then you are good. Ive put ice in the water but its not noticeable. The unit sprays a tiny bit of mist in front of the fan into some filters. So the cold ice water feels about the same as room temp water. The setup was easy, but overkill pointless, because it Does not cool without you “conveniently” having some ice in the vicinity. That wasn’t the case for me. I was using it for in my vehicle, the vehicle was off to save gas, but all my auxiliary ports work while the vehicle is off (American Truck). The weather was not even that hot out, roughly 75-77 degrees F. So I wasn’t looking for a miracle out of this thing, I placed water in the reservoir up top, turned it on, and I instantly was hit with ambient temperature air. I ofcourse turned it up, the fan then got louder, and still no improvement. The air began to obviously get hotter and hotter as the water went from a cool state to a temperature that was as hot as the inside of the truck. Definitely was not a convenient solution but I added some ice cubes from a tumbler cup I had. It worked vaguely, but that’s not my ideal situation to always carry around ice for a last minute cool down in a truck. Mind you, this isn’t an open area or a large area to attempt to cool down. I returned it because if that unit could not handle winter in Texas, then I can only imagine what it won’t do for a actual hot summer Texas day ! ... show more

Out house AC died so we were using fans n a window AC unit. Bought this to try. Follow instructions, I didn't have a problem pulling out filter (notice how it was BEFORE you remove). Easy to wet filters, easy to fill top w/water. It comes w/USB cord (short) but not the plug part. We luckily had extra one, so to plug into wall. You can move the front vents so it hits you how u like. I had on table about 2-3 ft from where I was laying and it felt nice. Suggestions of ice cube in water part, I didn't try but that would be probably even better. It's easy to move room to room etc (just don't prefill with water until u know where putting it. Cause if prefilled, it of course might "leak" out as u walk around w/it). Um I think $20/$25 is the ideal price pt for it. But I'm gonna keep cause it was overall helpful. If u r more then 4ft from it u probably won't feel it. ... show more

The thing works fine but the instructions say to soak the air filter. The front grill absolutely would not open no matter what I did so I gave it a good yank and ripped the thing off entirely. Because of that I can't recommend this product. Even with the front grill ripped off its STILL tricky getting the filter tray to slide out. I don't know if this is a design flaw and they are all like that or mine was defective. Meanwhile even though it is completely destroyed it actually still cools. ... show more

While it's a great option for cooling a small area, it may not be as effective in larger spaces. Additionally, the USB power cord is quite short and the noise level is rather high.

    • Not a Very Powerful "Air Conditioner"
I didn't find it was very helpful in lowering the temperature too much and it only affected the two or three feet immediately in front of it. So it's fine for that if that's all you need.
