He uses his right (upper) hand to grab one section of the handle. I use both hands to hold two other sections. I used it today and it was much easier to help my husband to stand up. Just be careful with your back. Since it is portable, I might leave it in the car and buy another one for home.

Tested from floor and chair with and without this lift aid. I am large and my friend couldn’t lift me on her own; but it was easy with this tool! I liked it over the other choices because it folds and can be carried in (big) purse or car so it’s always at the ready. Very helpful product.

I’m glad I waited for this version of the Lift Assist to come to market. I saw the others and wanted/needed one so badly, but I hesitated because they were hard plastic and transporting them would add to my difficulties. When I saw this Portable Lift aid I got so excited. My daughter helps me up out of my chair, and, back down into my chair. It is a godsend. It’s very well constructed and the fact that it can be folded in half and taken easily is a blessing. I love this! It's flexible & I attached to my cane. That way it's always handy to help me get up. Handy if I'm sitting, a must if I'm setting on floor.

    • It does help me get my husband up but it’s still not easy.
It may take some of the pull off my lower back but it’s still difficult. That’s when he’s in chair. No help really to get up from laying position. But my husband weighs 230# & 6’2”. Sure it would with someone smaller
