What I like: The matte white smooth plastic surround (not slick) Easy set up -- Insert Included Casters into the bottom sections (easy). For "just the fan" - no water needed -- and "just the fan" does cool the air For humidifier + fan and/or cooling: Lift Lid, Pour water into the top open section that filters down into the tank at the bottom. I added just a gallon - This holds A LOT more. (see product description) A noticeable neon pink/orange float clearly shows the water level (see pink arrows I used in photo) Plug it in. (The Power Plug/Cable is about 52" long) Pull the plastic tab from the Remote. Press the Red Power Button. (Simple fan speed button, Cooler button, Swing Option Button) The low speed on the fan puts out nice air (Medium and High provide more output & noise) I filled the blue "containers" with water and put in the freezer to freeze. They have a MAX line. I'm not yet sure if adding the two frozen containers into the top, adding more water, truly chills the air. Once you press "cooler" with the "frozen container" in, you hear the trickling water sound coming from the air cooler. I'm assuming that this setting re-circulates the water up into where the freezer containers are and then flows back down. I set this up on a towel on a concrete floor just in case for this trial. No leaks. (There is a plug in the bottom of this unit to take outside, unplug and drain) The fan and the trickling are what I'd consider noisy. I also have an overhead fan in this room (my home office) which is much more quiet than this air cooler. (However, I am not annoyed by the sound of fans...I am annoyed when I get too hot) The Air Cooler fan drowns out my ceiling fan noise (meaning, the air cooler is much louder) (I attempted a video for the audio...but no bueno...not true sound) The remote gives a small beep when you click the different settings. So far, it has been very responsive. I haven't read the manual (small 3 page brochure-like) thoroughly, but enough to give this 4 Stars. There is also timer options (which I have not tested) My 1-star deduction is about the noise (hard to measure)...If I were watching TV, this fan would likely impact the volume level. For sleeping (I'm a hard sleeper), the fan sound wouldn't. After running it with the "cooling" option "on" and the low fan, it HAS lowered the temperature in the direct line (4 feet) where I'm typing this. My overhead fan casts moving air around well. The Air Cooler is pretty "direct" . The "swing" button helps you control where specifically you want the flow to go. You can establish that by using the "swing" button and then click it again where you want it to stop. The fan, even on low, is pretty strong. I primarily got this in case our son's motorhome a/c goes out (and when extra air flow is needed during these hot summer days). While the general temperature in this room shows 76 --- the area directly in the path of the air cooler is at under 73 (without the "cooling" button in)... hahaha...a little too cool for me right now. It's easy to push it back (as of now for reviewing; it's at 4' away). I appreciate the options this air cooler gives in a small direct area. I don't think it will cool a room (after an hour it didn't alter the all-around temp of my office) -- just directly at me. (which was my purpose) **I did a very quick measurement of the length of the plug-cable and estimated (with a tape measure) 52" long -- the product description says 71" long... perhaps they counted the plug and I mis-measured. ... show more

    • Best Suited For Cooling Small Spaces
This portable unit is exactly what I was looking for. It's on the smaller side, so the air flow is cool but not very strong, which makes it best suited for more compact spaces. It is easy to set up--just add water and it's ready to go. All in all, a very nice little cooling unit.
