My central air died and repair was scheduled over a week away. I had already been without a/c ten days. For this portable a/c to be able to catch up after the house was over 90 degrees inside was asking a lot. Fans just pushed around hot air. I hooked it up to the window in the living room. My thought was... I'll live in here until it's fixed. It was around noon when I started it. By around 4pm, the living room felt comfortable but the kitchen was still hot. I closed all doors. By around 8pm, the living room was cool and the kitchen was comfortable. I slept on the couch and at some time during the night I grabbed a blanket. That next morning the whole house felt comfortable. And the funny part... that same morning the repair place called. Someone canceled and they could come that afternoon. Yes please! Because this is also a heater and dehumidifier, I will find many more uses for it. I think this is a great backup to have. I wish I had thought to buy it sooner. The whole wi-fi thing was a nightmare, but the remote does just fine. You'll need two AAA batteries. Sound... it isn't silent. It reminded me of the window a/c at my grandma's house. So I was reading the reviews of this unit and took a chance. I have zero complaints. This unit is cooling two 14x14 rooms with 10 foot ceiling no problem. Only took 5 hours to cool both to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. So for all the negative reviews, read the instructions, your problems are a product of user error. This unit is far exceeding what the manufacturer states and is doing great. To think we are in a heat wave and I don't feel it. Great product, very easy to put together, price was a little high though, but all in all very satisfied with this purchase. ... show more

I live in the southern part of Nevada, and It gets pretty hot here. (15 days over 110 degrees) I bought this unit to try to keep my A/C bill from going through the roof. It has helped out quite a bit. About 9PM I turn off my Central A/C and turn this unit on in the master bedroom and bath for cooling. We have a relatively large sleeping area, hence the 16000 BTU unit. It does a great job of keeping the rooms cool at 70 degrees all night long. It is quite enough to allow a good nights sleep. This IS NOT a 14k BTU as advertised. Used this A.C in conjunction with a rooftop unit in my travel trailer. I have maybe 200sf of living space and could not get the temp inside my trailer below 90 degrees in the Texas heat running my roof top unit. I bought this in hopes of relieving the strain from my roof top unit and aid in cooling my living space. After installing and using the rooftop unit and this portable unit the temp in my living space dropped to 88 degrees. I have since bought a small window unit (5000 btu's) and my trailer temp is now around 75°. This is not worth the money. It doesn't cool efficiently and water seeps from the unit even with drain line installed. ... show more

I own a tiny house. My son suggested this unit might be perfect for cooling and heating (in addition to the three small wall heaters in the house). It arrived earlier than expected. There was no damage. On the face of things this sleek, compact unit appeared to be just what I need. I wasn't crazy about the long, huge white exhaust hose that attached to the back and vented out a window since I don't have many windows, but my it only took up a small space and my walls are nearly white so everything blends and I still receive plenty of light through that window. My son came over and put everything together, inserted the the white exhaust hose attachment into a side window and showed me how to empty the drain with the smaller, flexible gray hose. Okay. So far so good. My house heats up quickly so I was impressed with how well it cooled nearly my entire house to varying degrees. Today my son came over to check on how it was doing, went over a few more settings with me and we put the unit on the DRY setting to see how fast it filled up with water. It took about five hours to fill up on DRY so when the light came on I went over with a receptacle to catch the water. Unfortunately, unless the hose is connected to the unit ALL the time it might take a slight of hand artist to attach the grey hose more quickly than the water flows from the unit. Water drained onto my wood floor until I reclosed the drain hole. Since water doesn't flow up I placed a cookie sheet directly beneath the unit (sans hose) and caught the rest of the water. We're going to be venting the exhaust and draining water through the floor to below my house. Also, I'm not a rocket scientist but I'm an intelligent woman. The hand held remote is nice. The WIFI instructions and Manual are like trying to read a pilot's handbook. I totally gave up on using my phone since the unit wouldn't sync up with my WIFI. In fact, my son and I tried to add a new device four times with no luck. Sometimes simple is better. Except for the WIFI instructions and drain issue, this is a terrific little unit. ... show more

I have another portable ac and I understand their strengths and weaknesses. It's cooling is limited and the hose gets hot and can add heat to the room. I brought this unit because my central air is wearing out and I don't have the thousands needed to replace it. I wanted this unit to support my whole house cooling. I put it in the room farthest from the whole house ac unit to keep that room from getting too warm. It works as desires and helps to keep my home cooler during the current heat wave. My room is small. I don't think this unit would cool 800 square feet. ... show more
