This is the second summer I have used this AC WITH temps outside 100 to 110 degrees. Cools great for a 15x15 room with 9 foot ceilings. Quite a bit of furniture in room so reduces cooling/BTU needs. Also I can close the closet off. Has dual speed fans. The lower speed fan kicks in when room is cooled. If you keep unit at lower temps it may stay on high speed mode. There is a sleep mode. Noise is average to me except with notable decrease in noise when in low fan speed mode. I go down to 74-76 so the unit does shuffle to low speed.. I tilt the unit to empty the water from the top nozzle daily. Otherwise you can get a dl or dp error and the unit goes into fan mode only. This maintenance does not bother me but some may disagree. If you turn the unit off please allow the unit to cycle to shut off with the air lovers closing as mentioned in the manual before turning unit back on. The unit uses 900 watts when compressor on with high speed fan. I have run this unit on a power battery back up on refrigerator type mode for cycling compressor to extend battery charging times with no issues. Install was easy. Good quality unit. Performance great. Control remote great with C or F mode, error signals as noted when need to empty water once every one to two days. I have several fish tanks in the room which keeps humidity high and individual performance may be better in drier rooms with no need to drain unit. ... show more

Well packaged, easy to setup (15-20 min.), and it's lot quieter than my previous window mount unit. The things I don't like are the remote, follow me function, and the window kit weather stripping which is why I gave it 4/5 stars. The remote isn't backlit and the icons are very hard to see. I looked through the manual and didn't see an option to turn it on but I could have missed it. The follow me function doesn't control the room temperature very well. This unit is in a small bedroom I use as an office. I have two computers going and it tends to heat up pretty quick. I turned the follow me function on and put the remote on the opposite side of the room. In this mode, the remote sends an update every 20 minutes. If I set the AC temp at 77 F, the room will heat up to around 80-82 F before the AC kicks on (sometimes the fan stays running, sometimes it stops). Once the AC kicks on it will cool the room down to 75 F which is colder than the setpoint of 77 F. So I keep getting these temperature swings of either to hot or to cold. If I could adjust the update rate to 10 minutes I think the temperature control would work a lot better. The window kit frame and hose is good but the included weather stripping isn't. The wide thin stuff with the sticky side is twice the width of the window kit frame and the dark grey foam stuff is a joke. After installation, there's still a small gap between the side of the window kit frame that touches the window. I think that the sticky weather stripping should have been 1/2"x1/2" instead of 1 1/2"x 1/16" so I'm going to replace that. Bottom line, it's a good AC unit for the price and I'm happy with the purchase. -Update (after about a month of use) When the fan is running it's fine but when the fan is running and the AC compressor kicks in there is a rattle coming from the inside back left middle area of the unit. I've tried removing the filter cover and pressing around the area but I can't make it go away. It gets pretty annoying if I don't have my headphones on so I may have to dive in a bit deeper. Yesterday, after running the unit a little harder (cooling set at 72 F vs 77 F) the internal storage tank filled up after running for a couple of hours. I was surprised how small the internal storage tank is when I drained it so I may have to setup the continuous draining method if it becomes a regular occurrence. ... show more

Im using it in a travel trailer...Good up to 95 even with the paper thin walls and less than adequate insulation...I run this until it gets super hot outside to save on energy...Then I run my overhead factory installed air conditioner in the hottest time of the day then back to my Dura Comfort to finish off the day...Best of all this little gem does not LEAK!...If you used it to cool one medium sized room in a house I'm sure you would be very satisfied...Overall I love this thing!!! ... show more

The ac unit works as long as you’re sitting in front of the unit itself and have the air on you to cool you off. It will not however cool the room. I turned it down to 65 and really hoped that would bring the 85 degree temp in the room down to a manageable temp. It never got below that and I had it on for almost 3 hours. If you’re expecting it to work like a wall unit or central air, in dehumidifying and cooling the room, it won’t. ... show more

I bought the12k BTU version of this unit to supplement another unit I already have in my garage on the hottest summer days. It is vented through an exterior wall with 6" round metal duct. It is quieter than the other unit, and it does blow ice cold air (low 40's). However, it is NOT drainage free as advertised, in fact it's far from it. It POURS water out, while the unit next to it hasn't dripped a single drop in 3 years. It drains so much water that I had to buy a 10 ft section of 1" ID flexible hose to run it to a safe place to drain by the garage door. The photo of the water drainage is after ONLY 1 hour of running the unit, and it's only 80 degrees outside today with low humidity (30%). I'd send it back but I've already sent two other portable AC units back because of lackluster performance (barely achieving upper 40's / lower 50's output air). I'd rather have a unit that blows really cold but drains constantly than a unit that doesn't drain but doesn't blow ice cold air. With that being said, I would definitely NOT recommend this unit for an indoor area with finished floors (hardwood or carpeting). ... show more
