    • I'm impressed - Powerful little unit!
When I received this unit, I wasn't sure what to expect. Our upstairs (3 rooms and 1 bathroom - approx 950sq ft) A/C had gone out, and I hopped online and ordered this one. This was pre-emptive since the last time the upstairs central unit went, I had to wait a few days for someone to come out, and a few more for the part. I'm so happy I ordered. I set the portable unit up in one of the smaller rooms, and pointed it towards the doorway (all 3 room entrances are on the landing - no hallway) - with approx 8 feet from front of unit to doorway - and put a fan (tall/slimline fans) in the doorway of each of the other rooms to suck the cold air from the first room and push it into the others. The thermostat is in the largest room of the 3, and while it shows 1-2 degrees higher than what I set the A/C to (70-74), it's definitely cooling the whole upstairs. I do have the continuous drain hose running out the back (from the center drain - not the bottom) to a 3 gal bucket, which I have been emptying a few times a day manually (first 24 hours was more like every 2 hours), as humidity here is brutal. I do have a working downstairs A/C unit, but it doesn't help the upstairs at all - it was 88 on the upstairs thermostat the day it went out (and 70 downstairs). I originally set the unit to 74, then when it started shutting off, set it to 72, and when it started shutting off again, I dropped it to 70 - where it still shuts off occasionally. I still haven't had the upstairs unit repaired - and quite frankly, I'm in no hurry as this A/C has kept things very comfortable. Instructions are easy to follow - the exhaust system (hose and window fitting) sealed very well (once i had the hose screwed in ALL the way on both ends - at first, there was a lot of hot air coming out and I thought I was going to need duct tape, but once I redid the hose at both ends properly, I had really good seals with no exhaust heat escapage). The plastic piece in the window fit well with no air seepage, either. It did take me a few hours to realize I didn't have it right at first, but once I fixed it, the temp started to really drop. I did not need any tools/tapes/etc outside of what came with it short of the 3 gal bucket. I'll update this review at a later time if need be, but for what I bought it for (temp measure to keep cool while central A/C unit was on the fritz), it's done an amazing job. ... show more

    • Easy setup, Compact and Effective
The air conditioner was a splurge to see if it could help cool down my uninsulated office. I have vertical sliding windows so I couldn't do a regular air conditioner. I was hesitant at first because the portable unit s I've had in the past were HUGE and heavy. This unit is much. more compact than others that I've seen and the setup took 5 minutes. It took longer to unpack it than it did to install it actually. Very simple and straightforward and the operation of the unit is also very simple. It takes a minute or two to start blowing cool air. At first I thought it wasn't working but as it went on longer it was a slow and steady cooling. keep my office (about 300 square feet) nice and cool. Great buy for the price. ... show more

During the summer, our home AC struggled to cool our bedroom effectively, so we decided to purchase a portable AC unit. After researching various options, we chose one that fit our needs perfectly. The delivery was impressively quick, which was a relief given the peak summer heat.     • Cooler Upstairs Bedroom
My upstairs bedroom is huge and gets VERY hot in the summer. Although this unit doesn’t cool it down below 70 (even when set at 61), I am able to sleep comfortably again. The unit can be somewhat loud on high setting, but the sleep mode is perfect white noise at night. Overall, easy to set up but seems like it is meant for horizontally sliding windows, which mine are not. Make sure you have a bucket for it to drain into because this thing really pulls out moisture! For many years, I have used a water/ice cooler in my bedroom at night. I like to have my bedroom somewhere between 68 and 62 degrees when I sleep. The ice cooler was just not able to cool the room to where I was comfortable. I live in an HOA and window AC units are not allowed. I finally decided to purchase a portable AC unit and I am thankful that I did. This unit is perfect and it keeps my bedroom around 62 degrees while I am sleeping. When the fan is on high, it is a bit too loud while I am sleeping, so I keep the fan on low. Other than that, this AC unit is exactly what I was searching for. Easy to set up. I like that it can be moved around the room. The part that gets put in the window is not very visible from the outside and that is a plus due to living in an HOA. ... show more

    • Still going strong well into the summer
I bought this in the dead of winter when it was super inexpensive. I live in an older, updated home, with central air that even with a new central air unit, wasn't getting my bedroom cold enough for me to comfortably sleep. I'm a menopausal woman and need COLD to sleep. I bought this so I could just cool my bedroom at night, instead of dropping the whole house into artic temps. My plan has worked beautifully! Keeps my 12x17 room (angled low ceilings) nice and chilly for me to sleep. It doesn't take up too much floor space, but you'll need space next to it for a bucket for the drain hose. I use a 3 gallon Libman mop bucket and that will easily hold one night of humidity it pulls out of the air in the room on even the most humid days here in Wisconsin a little ways off of Lake Michigan. Every day I just take the bucket down to my outdoor plants and water them, for some reason they seem to love that water over being watered with a hose? It's also nice because I can easily wheel it into a closet -even on plush carpet) for storage during the winter months.
