First Impressions of POPDEER Car Battery Jump Starter, 2500A Jump Box for Car Battery (8.0L Gas/ 6.0L Diesel), 12V Portable Battery Starter with Smart Safety Jumper Cables, Battery Booster with Built-in LED Light I ordered this product for emergency use only. It’s funny because the weather turned cold and snowy right after this Jump Starter was delivered, and I cruised around looking for someone in need of a jump start to try to test this product for this review. For better or worse, no luck. It so happened that I was also replacing my SLA (sealed lead acid) batteries out of my UPS (uninterruptible power supply). In order to test the functionality of this jump starter, I connected it to the dead battery which read 1 volt. After about 3 minutes of connection, the voltage increased to an impressive 5 volts - demonstrating transfer of power from JumpStarter to Battery. I also connected the multimeter to see what kind of voltage was coming out of it – just under 14 volts which is perfect for a jump starter. This unit comes with a little USB cord to charge the unit, the jump starter cables, and instructions. I didn’t find the instructions useful, but for someone who is new to electronics, maybe the cautions and warnings would be helpful. There is a built-in diffused flashlight - which isn’t very bright – I’m not sure how useful it would be in an emergency situation. The USB-charging function seems to be just simple 5V - (2) USB-A ports, (1) USB-C in/out. I did test the ports, and they work - though, I have to think that it is better NOT to use this as a power bank in case of needing the jump starter in emergency use. The instructions say that as long as the unit has 20% or more (as indicated by the large power meter display), jump starting a car is possible - but do i really want to find out? Overall, the fit, feel, and finish is OK - a bit plasticky but assembled solid. The functionality of this unit is great, especially when needed, will prove invaluable. The power bank function is an added bonus. I’ve seen competitor products sell for a great deal more. I ALWAYS keep a jump starter in the car - but now, I don’t have to have a monstrously heavy and bulky old fashioned jump starter since I have this one. For all things considered, I’m rating this 5-stars - great value, adequate fit and finish, and invaluable functionality - I really didn’t find anything that I objected to. ... show more

Hey friends! I recently got a new car after not having one for a while. The last time I had a car was 2007. I just remembered all of the issues that came with owning a vehicle, including going to start it up only to realize your battery was completely dead. Although the car is new, I didn’t want to be stuck again! This machine is super small and fits in the same wheel area as my spare tire. I love how fast it charged—about 10-15 minutes to go from 80% to 100%. I also love that it has lights on the front to help you see, in case you get stuck at night. Of course, I can’t speak to how powerful this is or if it will actually charge my battery (I’m not tinkering around under the hood of my new car). However, I’ll try to circle back if there is an issue when I need to use it. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is bc I really wish it came with a travel bag. There’s nothing to keep everything contained. So for now, I charged it and put everything back into the box. Review for: POPDEER Car Battery Jump Starter, 2500A Jump Box for Car Battery (8.0L Gas/ 6.0L Diesel), 12V Portable Battery Starter with Smart Safety Jumper Cables, Battery Booster with Built-in LED Light First, the Amazon description says "powerful 20000mAh capacity, providing 30 jump-starts on a single charge." I VERY MUCH DOUBT THIS! This appears to be an OK unit for what it is. I have no way to really test it until it is needed by someone, hopefully someone else. I would not replace my jumper cables with something like this, but it may be nice to have if I make a mistake and end up with a dead battery in some remote location. There is no storage box or bag with this battery, up to you to keep the cables together with the battery. I would not leave the cables plugged into the battery for fear of fire. Be aware that you would be carrying around an unknown quality lithium battery in your car, the kind of battery they do not allow in commercial aircraft luggage due to fire safety. From the instructions it appears to be very easy to use. Battery came charged to 70 something percent. I have seen a several of these devices and own one other from Amazon Vine program. I have to wonder why they are all 5 volt, 2 amp, USB charged instead of using a 12 volt source, like your car, which could deliver more power and charge faster. Spec says it can provide 2,500 amp peak power. I doubt that is for more than a few milliseconds. Looking at the wire where it is crimped on the battery clamp, it appears to be about #12 wire, pretty thin and certainly not capable of 2,500 amperes! There is a thinner wire from one side of the clamp to the other (unlike most jumper cables, the clamps are plastic with copper plated contacts (scratched them, silver metal under the copper). Also, how long do you think a 20Ah battery can deliver 2,500 amps? (20/2500 = 0.008 hours, or about 28 seconds and the # 12 wire would be destroyed) The USB outputs are nice to have but only has 5 volt 3 amp output so will be of limited use for me, unable to power items like a portable soldering iron. I very much dislike the trend of rating things like this in mAh. I know why, 20000mAh looks much larger than 20Ah, deceptive advertising designed for folks that don't know about electricity if you ask me. The description here on Amazon says "With dual USB output, this jump starter battery pack can serve as a 20000mAh battery charger power bank to readily charge tablets, smartphones, air compressor, car refrigerators and other devices" I find that to be a little misleading. Perhaps it will charge something like an air compressor or refrigerator, but I have not see anything like that which takes a USB charge, or would run from 5 volts at 3.1 amps. This device will not power something like a 12 volt air compressor or refrigerator. Distinctly says in the manual that the 12 volt output is ONLY for starting an auto, "please do not use it for other loads." Of course I tried to power another load! I hooked up a 12V, 2 Amp light bulb and it ran for about 60 seconds before the battery cut off automatically, dropping the battery meter from 95% to 89%. Did the same thing again and percent charge went from 89% to 84%. One more time and it stayed at 84%. I would not think a 20 amp/hour battery would drop that much in that short of time, but there is no spec on what voltage that 20000mAh battery is, nor any spec stating watt hours. Amazon description says "with bright LED large light, the luminous area is 3-5 times than other car jumper starter portable, 3 modes (flashlight/SOS/strobe) for different emergency, light up for 4 days constantly. " Really, the SOS mode is kind of silly. How many people would recognize such a thing? On the other hand, the flashing light may offer some visibility on a dark road. It is not very bright (not near as bright as my other similar unit), and certainly not a "spot light" as the description says, the LEDs have a white diffused cover. I would not rely only on this as an emergency signal or work light. Another item in the Amazon description says "10 types of intelligently battery protection scheme .... 100% safe, free you from failure problems like short-circuit or sparks." Makes me wonder then why the manual says, in two places, that the output must never be short circuited, even accidentally, "Under any circumstances." Or why the battery may be damaged if charged below 0C (32F) I know, one should not charge lithium batteries under 0 degrees C, but still, what about the protection? Overall, I would never stop carrying jumper cables for a tiny battery like this, but it may be a nice thing to have some day. Of course, if you pack it in your trunk and forget it, it will probably not be charged a year or two later when you need it (manual says to charge every 3 months). I will leave it to you to decide if purchasing this device would be money well spent... If I have a chance to actually use this to jump a car, I will update this review. ... show more
