  • Spa
These work so good. I use them in my pool as well. Definitely less chemicals have to be used with it and clears the water so fast.

  • Really works
Using in a small above ground 10x10x4 air up pool and havent seen any sort of alagey buildup or anything yet. Does leave a weird film on the water if the water doesnt get disturbed and it smells strange but its still clear and doesnt seem to be affecting me so i approve. Much cheaper than using chlorine and less damage to the pool ... show more

  • no algae, and that's the point of it
Never used one of these before and I've had a pool for 30 years. Now I have an inground spa at a seasonal house in Florida that I "was" paying someone to maintain while I was not there. Between the chlorine feeder and this thing, the water stays clear for weeks until I visit again.

  • Excellent tool for keeping my pool clear and clean
I recently purchased this PoolRX from Amazon services and I couldn’t be happier with my online shopping experience. Their website was user-friendly, making it easy to find the perfect item. The checkout process was smooth, and I received my order promptly. The PoolRX arrived in excellent condition, exactly as described on their website. I’m thrilled with the quality and will definitely be shopping through Amazon again in the future. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Turned green
I thought this was supposed to help my hot tub? My hot tub was fine, crystal clear when I put this in. Not even 24 hours later when I opened the cover to get in my water was green & filled with algae all over over the sides. So gross!

  • Copper-based algicide appears to work well
My water-fall pond (without fish or plants) is 450 gallons. The instructions state to place the metal diffuser in a high-flow area like a skimmer or pump basket. Since I have no skimmer, I placed it at the bottom of my pump vault where water is sucked in for distribution. After a day the water seemed slightly cloudy so I checked on the device. I reached down into the cloudy vault, felt around and found the object, lifting it to the surface. In the process, a lot of concentrated blue water dumped out. The object apparently wasn't receiving enough water flow to distribute the metals. I moved the diffuser (which, by website, rejuvenates the electrical charge on the metals when the ions pass through the caged unit) to a visible area where I could see current. The device appears to be working well over the 2 weeks it's been in use. I have lightly, green-tinged foam (edges) that collects at the end of the last stream bed, where the water drops down to a rock-covered underground reservoir. No visible algae growth is apparent anywhere. However, I had a yellow-mustard algae outbreak last year and despite repeated treatments, is still present in the typical sand/dirt appearance. This algae hasn't "grown out" into a vegetative state but I had hoped that the algicide would have killed and eliminated the sandy-appearing algae spores. I'm speculating that this algicide is mostly a preventative agent (against mass reproduction that leads to vegetative growth). Note- value and longevity rating is based on company spec. It may provide a one-time, "drop into the water" convenience but most water features require some form of attendance weekly (or bi-weekly) so an algicide that is applied at the same time and works just as efficiently would prove to be a better value for the money. The website has a FAQ section but some of the answers are incomplete sentences, as if the answer exceeded the available space and therefore wasn't displayed. The website also lacked a more complete description of how the product works. That may not be a huge deal for most people UNLESS they are planning to put any form of life into their water feature. Since most companies selling a product are only interested in telling you what THEY want you to know, to buy the product, the information is biased to one side-the seller. I suggest every consumer do their due diligence in researching the company, product and mechanism to get a more complete picture before buying. ... show more

  • Too small
Too small for the price

  • Wow, finally something that works!
I have a swim spa that sits in the sun in Florida. For the past few years I had problem with algae appearing every week. When I would apply a liquid algaecide it would create a foamy mess with lots of dead algae that needed to be removed and the perimeter where the water met the spa sides needed to be wiped down. I stumbled up the PoolRX product and thought I would give it a try. Before using PoolRX I thoroughly cleaned all algae using a product that circulates through all the plumbing for a day or two and then drained the spa (sorry, cannot remember the name of that product). I placed the PoolRX canister (it is small) in the filter pleats and it has been keeping my spa very clean and algae free for over 1 month. YES! Blue water, no algea! Chemical maintenance is also easier. Give the PoolRX a try, I imagine the larger sized version work just as well for a full sized pool. ... show more
