  • After much research, this is it.
My 30 year old B&D workmate just wasn’t cutting it anymore. You know how it is, when something is good enough, you just keep using it forever. That was my workmate. It clamped stuff OK, maybe a little bit awkward, but it’s quick to set up it and with built-in clamps. There’s nothing to lose. That said there’s nothing that makes it an amazing workspace. I’m not going to say the pony is an amazing workspace either, but it does have a big top, many different ways in which to clamp large material, it’s lightweight, and it comes with four awesome clamps. The clamps alone, if you purchase them separately, cost about 25% of what the table with clamps cost on sale so, a good deal—pony clamps are just great clamps, with or without the table. I was going to buy the WORX bench, but the clamps are junk and the reviews, it seemed, were mostly made by non-professionals. It had an as-seen-on-tv sort of following. This pony although similar in design is built good enough for a contractor to use daily. The pony has less plastic in critical areas, which should allow it to last longer. I like that it has aluminum legs extending out of powder coat steel uppers. It’s just solid, and it doesn’t weigh much more than the WORX. I like a video I saw of this bench in use where the contractor screwed the foot pads to 2x4’s to give it some extra stability. He was able to plane doors with this light weight setup, which is pretty amazing. I’m still new to plastic benches, so time will tell. I’ve welded, and soldered stuff on the old workmate bench, and never worried about melting it. I’d be a little bit hesitant, taking out a grinder with a wire wheel and going to work on a piece of metal strapped down on it, which I would’ve done with the workmate, so something to consider. Plastic melts and gets chewed up fast. I can also see slicing into this with an errant pass of sawblade and making quite a mess before I knew what was happening. My old wood work bench had a lot of saw mark through it, but you can tell when your blades start hitting wood versus when your blades start hitting plastic. Then again, wood glue wasn’t easy to chip off of the old, work mate top, the glue just pops off of the plastic Pony. A big plus if you’re doing small finishing work. I did read a number of reviews on Amazon that talked about getting pinched by this thing, and yes, I can see how that would happen. I even gave myself a little pinch even knowing this information. You just have to be attentive when folding the thing up, that’s all I can say. This in no way would make me hesitate buying the bench. It’s on me to be aware and keep safe. I’m working with tools that will take your finger off in a second, so if I can’t keep from getting pinched by the bench, perhaps I should be in a different profession. A final consideration is that there are a lot of crevices in these plastic benches that trap sawdust, and other debris. These things take a good amount of time to clean off. Something to consider if you’re doing a lot of finish work and moving the bench in and out of the house daily. Compressed air makes quick work of cleaning it off. Otherwise it’ll take a couple minutes with a brush to get it all cleaned off before you pack it up. I’ll provide an update to the review after I have more time with the unit, but so far from what I’ve seen, and the work I’ve done on top of it, I think this is probably the best of the bunch of this type of portable bench. I’m happy I made this purchase. ... show more

  • Overall nice, sturdy, functional- small error in listing
Overall decent, good size for most projects where that extra work surface is needed. Very sturdy and good engendering with the adjustable leg length. Like the large clamps, and the plastic bench dogs are reasonably sturdy. Three things to be aware of 1) while the plastic construction work surface is heavy duty and keeps the price down, like mostly everything like this made from similar plastic, the surface is not completely flat (slightly wavy manufacturing plus designed indents) and therefore not the most ideal if your project requires a completely flat surface (glue up’s, squaring, etc.). 2) Listing stated the 2 additional small clamps were heavy duty, which they were not, they were light duty, not a dealbreaker but it is the difference of a few bucks and some capability. 3) Pay attention to the pinch point warning sticker, it’s real! ... show more

  • Pony work table
Here are the pros and cons for me. Pros: Portable, strudy, durable, heady duty, accessories, Cons: Not tall enough for tall people like myself. This is a big one for me so i am going to make some risers. Pricey. Not many cons that I can think of. For the price they could've included 4 large vises

  • Good Product
This is a great portable work bench. The reason it is not a 5 star, I wish it had more accessories. Like a vise. Watch your fingers when folding it up. I definitely recommend.

  • Awesome work stand
Super easy to fold and fold. The clamps work like they should. So far I used it for my miter saw, table saw, router table and clamping wood down to both sand and cut.

  • Love Love Love This!
My husband an I purchased this table to work on a project together. It is a joy to use. High quality work table and clamps. It was a bit more expensive then other tables, but definitely worth it!

  • Great work table, adjustable height, many holes for bench dogs.
I love this table. Heavyweight without being really heavy. Folds down easily, many holes for bench dogs.
