  • The good, the bad, and the ugly - this stereo wins it for $34!!
The media could not be loaded. Purchased for 2007 Town Car and 2007 GMC Savana RV van. I wasnt expecting much except ditching the godawful OEM junk radios that - at least in the van - were intermittent fm recieve - stereo..mono...stereo...mono...stereo....mono - you get the jist of it, dozens of times a minute stereo/mono switching was driving me completely insane. Not to mention my 3rd ticket for cellphone use *even when using speakerphone the COT cops are trolls - thieves really, if you have a phone NEAR you - they ticket you. To protect and serve and all. So i decided a cheap bluetooth stereo was in order, after dozen of cordless speakers became more of a PITA that theyre worth trying to conversate and the batts die, or audio was horrible, time to have an in dash solution. My Escalade has a kenwood nav head unit that cost thousands for it and its install, and it just plain sucks for hands free. Time to seek a cheaper option...One of my favorite Canadian YouTubers (1Puglife) always raves about his 30 dollar car stereo, so on his advice i grabbed one of these. Says it does FM and bluetooth and its 34 bucks. Sure. Imagine my absolute and utter amazement at this stereo upon reciept - i didnt even realize it had 2 remotes AND BACKUP CAMERA included - as Pug would say - Scoooore! Ordered adapters from Schosche, of course they sent wrong ones. Returned and got the right ones locally. The good: Got the radio in 2 days, unboxing i noted the 7 in touchscreen unit, 2 remotes, harness connectors, trim pieces, 15 foot rca coax, a small CCD Camera, and all associated items to install same. My intitial impression was. - theres just no way! It weighs just a few ounces- however once i connected the harness and adapters, plugged in the unit and went about setting it up i was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality (it does lean heavy to the bass/lower mid range side) and loudness. All controls and remotes worked, backup cam etc works fine, and bluetooth INSTANTLY connected and several test calls claim the audio is decent - everyone said while my audio was a bit muted, they could hear me fine and unlike the kenwood unit, a partially opened window didnt blow the other party out of the room with wind noise. I did have to make a mental note to talk towards the head unit, but otherwise it worked fine. All movie MP3/4 features work fine, and best of all on 3 different phones - Galaxy A53, Moto A8 Power, BluStudio 6 and 2 tablets - screen mirroring works well on ALL OF THEM. Why does this matter? I use GPS (Google and Waze) Navigation apps non stop, and to have it dead center of the dash is HUGE - instead of it on the phone on the seat next to me or a cupholder. Plug in USB and the phones ask to mirror, click ok, boom! Nav on screen! It also allows one to dim or completely turn off the screen - thats HUGE when you night drive and this 7" display is blowing your night vision out due to a hard to adjust menu based brightness setting- not so on these, tap the sun symbol once, its 50% brightness, tap the half moon symbol, and its full dark mode. Perfect! The 7" screen has several color schemes and 3 suits to choose from, typical contrast and color/hue/brightness adjustments which really dont do much but result in a washed out display in full sun - this is a $34 unit, it looks to be a TN type display which is fine, but they dont handle darker settings well. It is a low end edge lit TN touchscreen Display and will work just fine 99% of the time and probably outlive the vehicle its in. The Bad: Its a 34 dollar radio- of COURSE it has faults... my 2 main gripes? 1) screen mirroring navigation results in no audio - this may be me not doing something correct, i have audio thru the phone/tablets speaker, but none on the stereo. I would like to screen mirror Waze or Google GPS and listen to FM Radio - so far i see no way to do so.. a simple firmware update would fix this eaaily. And 2) Audio. Is it just me or does it seem like treble freqs cutoff really super low - like lower than normal? With treble all the way up and bass on 0 its loud for sure, audio is a tad bit below good. Fair maybe. I dont hear my tweeters even working - and to be sure i plugged the Town Car stock stereo back in and instantly noted the crisp clean high notes of Van Halen album i had loaded. Plugged the Podofo back in, yeah,, highs seem to cut off below 6000 hz or so? I need my high freqs for talk programs and music. Equalizer, loudness or bass/treble control manipulations of all sorts did nothing. Its just more balanced to midrange sound - even the bass adjustment doesnt really bring sub 400 hz freqs into play, it just boosts midrange. That being said, for a $34 FM/Bluetooth/handsfree phone/MP3/MP4/MP5/AVI/Video/Jpg/Backup Camera and Screen mirroring head unit i cannot give it less than 5 stars. It doesnt have the crisp highs and booming bass lows as the OEM (factory) units do, but it is certainly louder than the Lincoln and GMC units - it can attain much louder volume before becoming overdriven and rattly-buzzy. The loud button in the settings makes a BIG difference. The Ugly: im at a loss, i have no choice but to consider price - and at $34 nothing about this unit would rate as ugly - and even my 'bad' issues are subjective to what I expect, YMMV. Lastly, i had an issue with the first unit i recieved and contacted Podofo via the email on the card enclosed. They replied within 2 hours and rectified it by shipping a whole new unit free of charge, and told me to fix or dispose of the old one. I gave it to my son whom installed it in his "fort" with a 12v adapter and he plays movies on it. (It has no audio) Certainly a 5 star unit with 5 star support from PODOFO. Ive already recommended it on my YouTube channel to my #VanLife people and so far everyone seems happy! Shout out to Pug and Podofo for deeeecint radio things. ... show more

  • Cheap and good starter Radio Head Unit!
This is a cheap unit, so I did not expect much out of it. The sound quality improved on my 04 Hyundai Elantra compared to another after market radio that the previous owner installed on it and it fits the head unit space with a few slight modifications. The back up camera works; quality is 720p'ish and is good at night. It's not super clear or perfect but you will know what is behind you. Sound/music cuts off when you reverse/using the back up camera. I just spliced the wire into my rear back up housing wire in my trunk. Someone said it caught fire/blew a fuse. There are many wires you have to splice in and insulate yourself; if you do not insulate and isolate the wires as you splice the radio in, it can and will cause heat/fuse blowing due to having many wires making contact; common sense. If you don't know what your doing; have someone that knows/understands electrical/radio wiring so it wont cause these issues. Touch screen is good but has a slight delay; but as expected for a low cost/budget head unit. Usb port/ MicroSD card slot can be used to play music or video depending on what you have in the memory. You can play video/music video as you drive, not recommended but you can do so. Keep in mind the display is 720pish but not bad video play back. Does not display music name when I use Bluetooth. Sometimes I have to re-connect the blue-tooth from my phone becaue it sometimes does not connect automatically; no big issue. Remote works well uses 2 aaa battery. ... show more

  • Back up camera inop, touch screen unresponsive, Bluetooth pairing problems.
Just wouldn't buy this piece of garbage. I installed it correctly tested camera separately after I confirmed it would not send a signal to the receiver. Not just that, but overall quality was terrible. Unless you like touching intermittent unresponsive screens and waiting multiple seconds for it to process what you did or change screens then this is definitely the unit for you. I also had terrible Bluetooth quality control, connecting issues and had to forget and re-pair several times. This unit is a definitely fail in my opinion and the price reflects the quality of the receiver. You get what you pay for. I have to say the customer service was ok, but not right. They offered to send me a free replacement of an upgraded model, but I just wanted a refund and to return the product. It took them several weeks to issue a refund and never sent me the new upgraded unit. ... show more
