First of all kudos to the support team. My unit arrived missing piece of the wiring harness. I contacted them via facebook and had a replacement harness in less than 4 days. For the price this has great features. I mostly like the phone link capability for music and GPS Maps It was a straightforward install for people that know their way around a car's wiring system. It is a little quirky and time will tell if it will hold up. I bought the protection plan, because I just don't think it will based on my experience with inexpensive stereos on Amazon. Some of the quirks/issues: It is slow. It takes 1-2 seconds for the backup camera to engage. Not a big deal but you will notice if you have modern cars with integrated backup camera. About every other day the Android car play connect forgets my phone and has to be paired again. After about 4 days of use it started doing this thing where when it first comes on it acts like it is making a phone call through my phone. It isn't really doing anything but I have to touch the hangup icon on the unit to get to the home screen. It is slow to connect to my phone. It always takes about 10-20 seconds after I turn my truck on. If I put it in reverse before it is done, I have to reconnect manually to phone after I start to drive. It isn't very loud. The wattage rating on this is exaggerated. It sounds good but just not very loud. Not sure if this is from my phone service, but it takes awhile to buffer up streamed music. I usually just hit pause for a few seconds and it works. I can listen on my phone by itself and I don't get this situation. All that said, If it is still working in a year, I would say it is worth the price. Update 1: Customer service is nice and responsive. I was originally missing a piece of wiring harness and they had it two me in three days. I just dealt with them again and was able to install the software update and some custom pictures for the boot screen and wall paper. Hopefully the firmware upgrade helps the connection issues. If you are looking to upgrade your old basic factory stereo to an Apple Carplay / Android Auto display, and you're on a budget, this is probably the best bang for your buck you will find. I installed on a 2012 Subaru Impreza. I definitely needes the separate dash kit (the included fascia and brackets did not fit) and wiring harness (I got the harness with included steering wheel control wiring and was able to retain most of the steering wheel controls without needing the separate adapter). Double check what you need for your specific make/model. Install was actually fairly easy, just make sure you pay attention to the wiring diagrams. I used a cheap crimp kit from Harbor Freight to get the job done. Installing the backup camera was a bit more tricky (had to splice into the reverse light and drill a few holes) but you'll be fine if you watch a few YouTube videos. Setup is also pretty straightforward. Android Auto works great and the stereo sounds at least as good as, if not better, than the factory stereo. The fridge default screen settings are a bit dim and murky, so I boosted the brightness and saturation settings to improve it. Backup camera works great. Some reviews have complained about the camera having permanent alignment grids in the field of view but that was not the case for mine. The only grids in mine are adjustable and removable in the head unit software. Additionally, their support email is very fast and responsive (although you may have to decipher some of their odd English at times). It isn't perfect. Occasionally the Bluetooth doesn't pair on its own and requires manual pairing. The screen quality is good, but not great (I think they have a more expensive QLED model). The steering wheel control settings don't have an option for a "mic" or "voice" button, which means if you have that button on your wheel you won't be able to use it to active Siri or Google Assistant. These are minor quibbles, especially if you go to Crutchfield and compare to even your least expensive option for wireless Carplay/Android, backup camera, etc, which will be at least 400 bucks. If your car is already kind of old and not worth spending a ton of money on a state of the art head unit, this is a very inexpensive option that will get you 90% of the functionality of a brand name unit that costs you triple. THE GOOD: The build quality of this PLZ unit is superb for being a no-name brand. The touchscreen and UI are super responsive and there is zero lag or freezing so far. To add, the UI is neat and very easy to use. One neat feature is the ability to detach the touchscreen from the head unit for those who may not live in the nicest area and park on the street like myself. In addition, the display tilts and swivels which is a nice touch; the unit feels sturdy while tilting or swiveling it as well, giving you a feeling of confidence while doing so. THE BAD: Where this head unit seriously falls short is in the sound quality department. I have four Rockford Fosgate Punch 6x8 3-way speakers hooked up to this head unit and they sounded far better with my old JVC head unit. The output from this head unit makes high end speakers sound very thin, and the volume is capped at 40; even at the max volume with the loudness setting turned on, this radio does not get loud at all. In addition, EQ settings are severely limited: There is no option to adjust bass, treble, mids, etc. Instead, you are stuck with EQ sliders which help only marginally on this head unit. One other area where this head unit falls short is with the Bluetooth audio quality. When taking calls over Bluetooth, the other caller sounds very robotic. Lastly, while using CarPlay, you cannot listen to AM/FM radio simultaneously, which is not an issue with my BOSS CarPlay head unit in my other vehicle. Overall, this head unit is worth the $219.00 asking price due to it's solid build quality and easy to use UI. If you want a head unit with better sound quality and more sound customization, I suggest spending more for a name-brand unit. ... show more
