  • A Fast and Easy way to Transform Your Photo Albums
My wife is a serial photographer, snapping off hundreds of photos at any gathering or on any trip. We have a large storage area in our basement that is (was!) PACKED with totes of unused, forgotten, "stuff". I know, this is not unusual, however, I had the 6 totes of photo albums clearly in my sights when I thought about wasted space. Not only do these large albums take up a lot of space, but they are also heavy, and nobody ever looks at them. In our busy lives, who is going to trudge down to the basement, lug a 60 lb tote off of a shelf, and start looking at pictures of a Panama City Beach vacation from 1987? Not us. The challenge of converting them to digital is that it's either time-consuming or expensive. We had about 3000 paper photos, which would have cost a couple thousand dollars to convert via one of the online companies who specializes in digital conversions. Using a flatbed scanner would have been so time-consuming and laborious that we just procrastinated for several years. Just before the holidays this year, I started getting serious about cleaning out, so the photo totes were on my radar again. After considering all the options, this Plustek photo scanner seemed like a low-risk investment. Well, I couldn't be more ecstatic! It honestly took me longer to remove pictures from albums and sort them than it did to digitize them. This scanner is so fast and easy to use. The software loaded to my MacBook in minutes (I downloaded the software from the Plustek website, but it comes with a disc) then I was quickly up and running. I imported the vast majority of my photos in 300 DPI, and for digital viewing on a phone or Echo show, that is sufficient. At 300 DPI, it takes, I don't know, 3 seconds per picture. The Plustek scanner scans them almost as quickly as I can feed them in (this is not a deal where you can stack 30 photos and just let it run; you have to feed pix 1 by 1) and it takes any size pic up to 8x10. We had little 2x2s, oddly shaped pix that were cut into circles and octagons, and it scanned them without drama. We spent about 15 hours organizing, tossing, scanning and importing to our online cloud service, but it was soooo worth it. We eliminated a ton of unused, and heavy, stuff, tossed EVERY paper pic we owned, and really transformed our storage space. I think the biggest win from this project is that photos we haven't looked at in years now pop up on our Echo show and Apple TV streamer screen savers. I took the time to add dates to the pictures if I could come up with some reasonably accurate date-taken information. This was helpful. I also took the time to organize them into online albums. The extra effort is worth it. ... show more

  • Plug & Play at its best
No issues with delivery or packaging. Product arrived unscathed. Once connected to my computer I accessed the associated software via online download. No issues. PC is a Windows 11 laptop. I started scanning photos immediately with no problems. The software is intuitive so not much learning curve. Although this is a manual feed device, I didn't find the scanning tasks to be daunting. Long term, we've got a lot of pictures and documents to digitize and I don't want to hand them over to an online storage facility. I have purchased a large storage external drive as my local storage method. So far, so good! This scanner is a very good device to enable photo and document storage. The quality is better than expected. The mechanism works like a Trojan. No overheating, excellent accuracy and calibration is effortless. Great price point too. ... show more

  • I Love This Scanner
Like many others, I have multiple boxes of old photos, and I've started on the project of converting them to digital images. I put a lot of time into researching photo scanners, and the ones I was interested in were pretty pricey. Timewise, this project is out of the question using the flatbed scanner available in my printer. After a lot of research, I decided on this Plustek scanner. I've had it for about 7 or 8 months now, and I love it. You can scan up to 50 photos at a time with no buttons or adjustments - just feed the photos in one at a time. At 300dpi, the process is fast. The images drop into Plustec's software, and you have the ability to do some editing and color adjustment. I've found that this software works well for me, is easy to use, and is all I need. I just want to get all these photos scanned in and organized and I'm not terribly interested in any serious editing at this point. I'm especially happy with the color enhancement that's available for those old color photos from decades past that are fading or turning yellow - it really gives those photos new life, just by clicking on a button or two. I have other photo editing software on my laptop, and I'll worry about serious editing later, if I even decide to go that far. After I've made any quick color adjustments, I just move the photos onto my hard drive, where I can organize them., and save them on an external hard drive. The Plustek scanner does a great job and has a very attractive price tag. The user manual is detailed and very helpful. I've heard good things about the customer service, but I haven't needed to use it. There's also a case available for it here on Amazon, and I keep it in the case on my desk to eliminate dust. The scanner doesn't take up much room on the desk, so I keep it there to work on my scanning project when I have a little extra time. I recommend this scanner for anybody who's looking to tackle a photo archiving project without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Fast and easy but no feeder tray
Using with an old cheapo Windows 10 laptop. Easy to install, easy to use. Been busily scanning a lifetime of photos—some laminated, some old Polaroids, some strips from photo booths, some glued into card-weight frames, some trimmed to odd shapes from scrapbooks. This thing handled them ALL without a problem. Resulting images are sharp and true to the originals. After about 50 photos it blocks the next at the feeder, and tells you to save the current set to disk; browse to a folder and select it, and it quickly saves all the files. You have to feed each photo separately, face-down and head-first, but it’s really quick so not too bad. Just watch a movie while you scan :-) ... show more

  • Works as expected. Easy to use.
So easy to scan regular size photos. A little harder to scan 8x11 photo sheets. Easy to use. Made it easy to get through the old family photos very quickly. Love this!

This is by far the quickest and easiest photo scanner. The color is brilliant and the quality is great. I am very happy with the results and highly recommend it.
