The net tends to catch on the ground when navigating steep trails down to the river when using the belt hook. The net itself is just the right size for the rivers in the area. Handle is shorter than some may be used to, but feels sturdy. Easy to deploy upon arrival to destination and easy to fold up when moving on. The net itself appears somewhat thin, but time will be the judge. The rivers are somewhat brushy here so being hard on equipment comes natural if not unavoidable. No regrets buying this net. Sadly this poor amazing fishing net is not being used to his full potential catching fish but it has been adopted to play as a carrying bag for everything a normal shopping bag gets used for but on a boat. I love this net. Folds in half and has a belt clip. I wear it on my belt when I bank fish. It has captured over 30 trout so far, only issue is small treble hooks, when caught in net, are extremely hard to remove. About 10% of the time I end up cutting the treble hooks in pieces with pliers to free the fish. Single and large trebles dont tangle as easy and are quickly removed. The sturdiness of this net is OK if used as intended. The netting is very strong, it will outlast the hoop and handle. The folding hinge of the handle WILL break if abused. Do not let children or most young adults play with it. They will break it. Its not a butterfly net or a butt spanker. ... show more

I read other reviews claiming it was good for big fish… I guess that depends on your definition of big. I bought it as a net for pan fish, bass & walleyes and it works well for them. The netting is fine, which makes hooks hard to get out. It handles small pike ok, but anything over 25” will require a bigger stronger net. The folding handle is the weak point, but will hold up on smaller fish. The extending handle works well and it collapses to a nice compact size. For the price it works well, just don’t expect too much out of it. ... show more
