I wanted to leave a review because I researched the heck out of mattress pads. I was worried about my bed because of hot flashes. The last thing I wanted was some mattress pad that was going to make me sweat even more! I saw reviews that said this was hot. It's not at all in my experience. I ran part of it under the faucet and the water rolled off and did not soak it. Also, it fits the bed well. It does not shift or move. I have a Sleep Number bed with a nice top so I was happy that this wasn't so thick that it took away from the comfort of my nice mattress. Very pleased. I bought a few different versions of the highly rated waterproof mattress pads on Amazon and they all leaked! This is the only one doesn't. I use them for an elderly relative I live with and 75% of our nights the bed gets wet. With the other waterproof mattress pads, I'd have to layer disposable incontinence pads underneath and it would soak right through to those. Nothing has bypassed this pad so far. Its easy to put on, will be getting another one for my sons bed. UPDATE: My dang dog peed on my bed, and and held up to its claim, the pee didnt reach my bed. Ill just list the things i like about this mattress protector 1. There is no noise and nothing in the mattress protector to actually make the noise. I think the ones that make the crinkling noise have a sheet of plastic in them. 2. Its a decent level of softness you would expect from a mattress. Its not on some very fluffy blanket level or soft sheet level but its still soft. Like i would say softer than a cotton shirt but slightly less soft than quality bedsheets. 3. I am completely grossed out! We received our cover and not only was it not in original packaging and not folded but there was a piece of HAIR INSIDE! There was also another piece of something brown inside. (see photo) I did not even open the packaging and will be returning it. 15lb Miniature Schnauzer got sick in the middle of the night and vomited on the bed. The sheets were wet in a circle. We pulled the sheets off and the mattress was wet. We bought this protector for a brand new mattress. The protector did not do its job!

We have a purple mattress so we really wanted to protect it and not compromise the comfort of our mattress. I tested the water resistance by pouring a cup of water on the mattress protector. I had already washed it according to directions and put it on my bed. The soft upper layer fully absorbs liquid (which is actually good because that would eliminate more mess I think). But after sitting until the water was fully absorbed, it didn't go through and the mattress remained dry. I love that it's soft and not crinkly sounding like the ones my mom bought when we were kids! 4 stars because the sides have no protection and the waterproof layer stops right at the edge of the mattress.
