I bought this waterproof mattress pad for my elderly father-in-law who has advanced dementia. The old mattress cover was just falling apart and was not waterproof. This mattress pad is waterproof but doesn’t sound like a plastic sheet so it protects the mattress and allows him to sleep peacefully and not be woken up by a lot of crinkly sounds. It doesn’t cause overheating like I read some waterproof mattress pads might. We do put chucks down on the sheets so we don’t have to wash the mattress pad every time there is an accident, but it it does fit in our household washer and dryer and I’ve washed it a few times with no issues. I’m planning on buying one for my bed-we don’t need a waterproof pad but it’s a nice benefit-you never know when you’re going to spill a soda or the cat might act up. ... show more

These are great and have not leaked through for my toddlers who are not yet fully nighttime potty trained and have occasional accidents. I will say, I do not put them in the dryer and instead air dry them outside (when weather allows) or hang indoors over a shower curtain rod. I have twins and bought three mattress covers so that I could have a backup one if needed in case one wasn’t fully dry in a day from indoor air drying. I think when you heat dry in a dryer, any mattress cover will lose its leakproof function. Other pluses are the breathability, and comfortability. One of our toddlers decided to climb on our bed, and spill his juice… protector did its job. We pre treated it with spray n wash before washing it, and you couldn’t even tell anything happened. Mattress wasn’t stained either.
