I never used one of these before. I messed up and didn't get it tight enough my first attempt, but subsequent uses went well!

    • This is very hard to use on small engines
the bottom of the tool is faced outward from the cylinder. It is not bendable, and it was several tries before I finally got the edge to insert into the cylinder enough to allow inserting the pistons. This was both sides of the motor, both cylinders. I generally use small screwdrivers or pencils to push the rings in with alot of effort but positive results every time. This tool was actually harder to get to work into the top and allow for sliding of the piston into the cylinders. I will give a plus that the shipping was quick and the tool (except the edge that was supposed to go into the top of the cylinder, it needs it be slightly angled in the current tool it is faced outwardly) the tool is well built and well-built otherwise. I would recommend but be ready for a bit of frustration. ... show more

Definitely not for 4 cylinder engines. Piston ring pliers don't even work for my set of Wiseco's. Would be very great fpr v6-v8-v10-v12 or any engine with big pistons in general. My pistons were 81.5mm

Great tool to keep from scratching your pistons while installing compression rings. Made the job go super easy and fast. Can’t beat the price! I didn’t use the ring compressor. I bought a round plastic fixed size made for special this 5.3 LS engine. 3.780 I found it on eBay for 1/2 the price of the aluminum name brand ones. ... show more
