When I opened up the product detail page I could see the Amazon purchase reminder that I bought this set back in 2014 and even have the original roll bag they came in. This set of pliers has served me very well over the years and I felt I owed the Irwin company a good product review. These pliers are very durable and the entire set will handle virtually any DIY job for the average homeowner. If you add a good set of electric pliers to the mix you have everything you could possibly need. The adjustable jaw 'groove lock' or more commonly called 'channel lock' pliers are probably what I use most often. Take care of the pliers and they will last for years. - I oil mine periodically with WD-40 just to keep them from rusting and functioning well. Remember, with tools, like most things in life you get what you paid for and sometimes you get lucky by buying smart. I read all the reviews with the luke warm praise of Irwin tools and guys you are not buying Snap On so let us not compare a $ 79.00 per set tool maker to a $79.00 per tool from a precision tool supplier. For the Average Joe/Jane these Irwin tools are great, for me the oversized grip is bulky but for my wife, it is the first time she has actually put a wrench on nut and turned it until it was loose, imagine the look on her face- now she thinks she is Tim " the Tool man" Taylor. Since then she has fixed a door knob and tried to reseat the garbage disposal. That one crank changed her confidence in herself. The irwin set is better than anything you can buy for the price especially with a soft grip.and variety. As for the 3 different size grove lock well you and I may have the hand size to accommodate a 1.5 inch nut on a 10inch wrench but a women with small hands may need that 12 inch wrench to torque that nut. Irwin's sure grip tooth pattern means she will get the torque if she has the right tool. And with this Irwin 8 piece grove lock the right tool is at your side. For a utility set this is an excellent purchase. Everyone needs a good set of linesman pliers, needle nose, wiresnipes, and adjustibles as a base to any project-this set surpasses the store brands in quality and durability and comes with a lifetime warranty. It is not SNAP ON, MAC, PERCISSION or MAACO or GRIZZLY but If you are a professional and your are doing professional work, making professional money -do what real professional do -Go get yourself a set of professional tools. Otherwise lets compare apples to apples I use these on my cars, truck, boats and home and would recommend them without hesitation. Needed a new set of pliers/tools for a backpack portable tool "box" and have always had good luck with this brand. Not disappointed. Nice set, reasonable price for good tools. Well made and will last a lifetime. Would recommend.
