  • Fun to play with and useful for work.
I purchased this to get a better look at small electronics and circuit boards. The picture is clear enough on my monitor to easily see what I'm doing. The setup was easy USB just plug in and ready too go. My only complaint is the suction cup that holds the camera on it's base has popped off randomly a couple of times. ... show more

  • Hard to get working
So this works as advertised. Just had a hard time finding a computer that it would display on. Tried a second and never could get anything but the computer camera to work even after doing all the steps and troubleshooting steps they recommended. Don’t think it will work with a iPhone maybe a Mac but not a phone at least not a way I could figure to get it working. I came upon a section for developer software that may allow it but that’s above my pay grade. Anyway just a few things for the prospective buyer to be aware of. But again it does work and seems to work pretty well just be aware of possible issues that I faced. ... show more

  • **COIN HUNTERS READ THIS** Nice little scope. But I should’ve bought a different one.
This is a really nice little scope for the money. It has helped in my coin hunting a lot. However, for me I think one with more megapixels is needed. It just does not have enough definition when I get zoomed in close on my coins. The pics are still a little grainy and that makes it difficult to identify some errors and varieties on some coins. I find I’m still breaking out my handheld loop to verify. Also, it does not go high enough to take a picture of a full Lincoln cent, let alone a quarter or half dollar. I have to put it up on a book to get a full coin shot. So a taller one is also in order. Nothing major wrong with the scope at all, it does everything advertised, I just didn’t know I needed more mega pixels that one that went taller. That’s just my ignorance on the subject. One issue It does have is a tendency to pop off the base if you adjust it with one hand. If you use two hands it is not an issue, but another annoyance. I like the scope, I just need one with slightly different features and parameters. ... show more

  • This is THAT MICROSCOPE that you need.
I bought this to look for defects in coins as I am on the bandwagon with the rest of you coin hunters. at first it looked a little small but when I hooked up to my laptop which was connected to my 50-in monitor it worked like a charm! It has an automatic LED light which does a great job it's not just a little POS. And you can get very close to the coin and see the extreme detail. which of course shows up on your monitor screen or your TV if you're up that way like I have. meaning you can blow up the view so yo u're not squinting at a small screen trying to figure out if you're a millionaire or not. ... show more

  • Great microscope, but has software issues.
This is a great little microscope for the price. I purchased it to use for my coin collecting hobby and it really brings things and details up close. I also got to playing around with it and looked at some other things up close. I had no idea that my gray hair was transparent!!!! hahaha!!!! Seriously, it is! I could see the background through my piece of gray hair..... Ok, back to the review. The scope is well built and very sturdy. Two things that I had issues with (actually one thing was not really an issue, but more like a recommendation to the manufacturer) were the length of the flexible "pole" (it is actually metal and very well built) and then there was an issue with downloading the required software for it to run on my MacBook Pro. 1- I would highly recommend the manufacturer supply a longer pole so that the scope is further away from the object you are viewing. I cannot get a full picture of even a penny in one frame. I will address this by extending the pole or building a longer tower in order to overcome this one issue. 2- Even though the product description says it is compatible with MacOS, the software would not install onto my MacBook Pro no matter what I did. I was slightly frustrated with this obviously, but after researching the issue, I found that a program called Photo Booth, already installed on my computer, thankfully allowed the camera to work. The Plugable software would download, but it just would not install and I kept getting error issues. Oh well..... I think the manufacturer needs to also address this issue as well. Overall, I would recommend this scope to anyone on a budget. I got the 250x model and cannot imagine what a higher powered model would be capable of doing!!!! 250x is plenty enough magnification for almost any application I would think. At least it is for me and my coin collecting hobby. Hope this helps. ... show more
