In our business we hook up lots of washers and dryers for the moving industry. Occasionally we have a dryer vent that isn't the standard hose hookup. This tool allows us to take straight sheet metal ducts and crimp one down to fit inside the other. It works great and saves us a trip to the hardware store for that fitting we never carry on the van. I am also going to replace a few troublesome rain gutters and this tool will come in very handy. These work well and are comfortable to use. My only issue is the plastic handle cover easily slips off when trying to use it. Seems to be oily underneath and doesn’t hold on very well. It does do a great job of crimping and thats what I got it for. You might try cleaning it up with isopropyl when the handle slips off and seeing if it will stay on afterwards. I am not a professional gutter and downspout installer but I've done a few installations in my time. Because I don't do gutter work every day I haven't invested in better tools that are unique to the gutter installation game. I use this type of crimping tool to put together two similarly sized pieces of downspout so that one section slides into the other. By using these pliers and crimping all 4 corners of a downspout you can easily shrink the opening down so it easily slides inside a similarly sized unmodified (no crimps) piece of downspout. I have always done this job with a pair of needle nose pliers but the result does not look great and it takes much more time to perform the crimp and make it somewhat uniform and acceptable. I can do 4 identical corner crimps with the PLATATO 5 blade crimping tool in about 30 seconds or less. The tool works effortlessly and locks closed easily too. If gutter work is in your future I would definitely invest a few bucks in this tool. ... show more

Stereotypical chinese quality, but they'll get the job done if you're working on light gage metals or only need them occasionally. If you're a professional, I'd spend the extra money and get a high quality pair. I had to tighten the nuts to get some of the slop out of the fingers, but they worked to install a single gutter that I needed them for. ... show more

These sheet metal crimps work just like they should. I used them to finish up some loose ends in my 6in dust collection system in the shop.     • Sturdy handles and nice grip
I do a lot of odd projects around the house, and after growing up doing construction I learned having the right tool for the job is essential. Well my latest project was adding a new A/C duct in my basement and so I needed to crimp the ends of the duct to allow each piece to slide together.
