  • The best string at the best price
Style: Single
This string set is one of the best I have ever played on!!! I like them better than Evas which cost 3 or 4x more, and better than the Larsen Tziganes. In the same price class they are better than Dominants and run circles around Zyex (terrible string) They have soul, and last a long time. I have three violins strung with them. An electric, an old turn of the century nice german strad design set up for celtic with a fiddle bridge, and a 100+ year old Medio Fino french made violin set up for classical. On all three violins they sound and feel superb. They project very well without sounding harsh, yet cover lower volume dynamics with ease. I have the set with Pirastro's E from their Gold set on Medio and it just makes me want to soar into those higher positions just to hear it, best sounding and playing E I've played in a long time. Intonation is very accurate and feels organic and natural. A real joy to play. As far as longevity goes, they've been on the fiddle about 5 months now with no sign of going false. I use Jade rosin if you'd like to know. I also like how they work well on both of my acoustics that have such different tonal characteristics. That's rare. You cannot go wrong with these strings, and the price is remarkable. Highly recomend them! ... show more

  • bright and responsive strings for the price

These are good quality strings for the price. If you've been playing on dominants for a while these will liven up the tone and brightness of your instrument.

  • These sound great on my Mendini MV300
Style: Single
These sound great on my Mendini MV300. I removed the Celilio strings that came on this violin. They were okay, but I have a hard time learning an instrument if I am not in love with the sound. The violin had a nice ring with those Celilio strings, but the sound was missing something. The violin is very clear now. I love the strings. I would not use them on a better quality violin because if I spent more on a violin, I would want better sounding strings. For the price of this violin, these strings greatly improved the sound. It seems that it is easier for me to notice when I am off on hitting the mark on the fingerboard with these strings because the sound is purer. My fingering has greatly improved as a result. I hope that makes sense. I am a senior citizen self learner and don’t know exactly what terms would be used. I am waiting until the violin instructor at our music store recovers from surgery so I can start lessons. ... show more

  • Great cost
Style: Single
I've switched to this brand a while ago and not going back. After spending lots of money on expensive strings that will have a short life I decided to try this one on a spare violin. I was very satisfied so I decided to add these to my professional violin. No regret. It's durable and cheaper than others. ... show more

  • They sound good and aren't expensive.
Style: Single
I bought a restored old circa 1900 fiddle, and the restorer insisted that I use these to reduce tension on the neck. Pros: they actually sound really good. The tuning is fairly stable -- that is, they stay in tune overnight -- but it took a couple of weeks for that to happen as they stretched. They are inexpensive compared to other similar strings. Cons: they are soft-ish synthetic strings, so for fiddling with a fast attack or lots of ornamentation, then can be slow to respond and feel mushy. ... show more

Bridge was nearly a fit. After a little, careful sanding it is AOK.

  • Sweet tone that enhances the timbre of the fiddle.
Style: Single
Purchased these to use on one of my fiddles. Normally use D'Addario Helicore but had put these on a violin as a gift to a friend last year and like the way they sound. Has a bright, sweet sound. Still undecided which I like better for folk/bluegrass, but these make the fiddle really 'sing'. Only drawback was it took a bit longer for the strings to settle in than the Helicore, but once they were played consistently they do not drift too much out of tune between sessions, which I like. These do seem a bit more sensitive to temperature and climate changes than the Helicore but overall I am really pleased with how these play and sound. ... show more
