My son-in-law has so many boy toys. He has a collection of vehicles from his restored high school pickup to a shiny new Mustang. Of course, he has a truck and an ATV. The family of four has about nine vehicles. I had hoped to get him something for Christmas he would appreciate but it is hard to buy for someone that buys whatever he fancies. I was amazed to see him pick up the pickleball set in my kitchen. He took everything out of the box and put it in the racket bag. He said he had been thinking about trying the game. Of course, I insisted he try my set out to see if he liked playing. He and the grandchildren quickly set up to play and had a great time. I see that the set is now 30% off of the price of $74.98 so I know someone that will be getting a gift that he will appreciate. My wife and I are newer to the Pickleball craze. We have a court in our neighborhood and have been going often for some exercise for the past couple years. We're definitely not pros, but we wanted a nice new set that had everything we needed. This really fit the bill! You get 4 rackets, 4 balls, a backpack, 2 towels and 2 armbands. It's nice to have the extra paddles to invite some guests to come and try. The backpack holds everything and it's really small and light. These paddles are USAPA certified. The rackets themselves are nice and grippy. They come in 2 different colors, so you have options. These have worked great for us. We have let several neighbors and family members use these as well. These aren't our first set and are as good as any we have purchased to date. If you're new to pickleball this is a great way to get started. If you're a hobby player, this is a great all in one set. I'm not sure how this stacks up against a $150 plus paddle, but I'm not looking to go pro. For someone that plays regularly for exercise and fun, this is a great set! ... show more

Part of the appeal of the sport is that it doesn't require a lot of gear to play recreationally and the gear is fairly simplistic.
