I am so happy with this paddle! I am a beginner and I took an intro class to learn the basics because all my friends are now playing pickleball. Honestly I hadn’t even heard of it like a few months ago. First I bought a cheap set on Amazon but that broke after a couple of weeks. So I was looking for a better quality paddle, and also something that looks good on the court. But still not too expensive. And this one looked cool for the price so I bought it to try it out. And IT IS BEAUTIFUL!! I am in love with the design. So chic! And the cover that comes with it is so nice too. Also it is super lightweight and the grip is very comfortable. I feel like it gives me more control over my serves which is what I needed. And I am glad I didn’t have to pay crazy money for it. Probably going to buy another one for my partner to make it a set. UPDATE 9/17/2023: Also bought the new designs, Fern and Forest, and they are just as cool and high quality as the checkered one. But these don't come with the cover, but they are also cheaper so makes sense. Love them! ... show more

As the price reflects, you're not getting a professional paddle. That said, I love the way it feels and sounds when it hits the ball. It's loud and crisp. Others don't like that, as expensive paddles tend to create a soft, cushiony hit. The only knock I have with this paddle personally is the grip. It just doesn't feel quite long enough. I have tried many different pickleball paddles, and I currently rotate out a few $200 paddles, so my review may be more critical than most. Here is what I like: The grip is actually really nice. It's a very tacky grip, which would be really nice in summer. I actually would like to have an overgrip like that on one of my other paddles, it's that nice. The design is pretty cool. Different, but I really like how clean the design is, even though I don't really care for the white paddle head cover it comes with. Functionality is fine, sweet spot is okay, but also a lot of deadspots that you would expect with a starter paddle. The vibration when hitting is a little different than I'm used to, but I think this paddle could be improved a ton by adding a strip of lead tape to the top of the paddle. Right now it oddly feels like it's handle heavy and I'm not getting the top spin I'm used to. Lead tape should fix that problem. What I don't like: Dead spots, as mentioned above. Not USAPA approved. This is a big deal to me, but may not matter to some of you starting out. If you eventually improve and want to play tournaments or some sort of league play, or even a more competitive group then you probably won't be able to play with this paddle. Overall, I don't know how to recommend this as a starter paddle. I think there are some starter sets that are actually similar quality and include 2 paddles, a case, and balls, so I don't think this is a good value pick. However, it is stylish, and if you're just playing for fun then why not just choose what you think looks good? I can't rate it higher than 3 stars because it is not an approved paddle, and won't really grow with you as a player compared to higher quality ones. ... show more
