  • better with some DIY enhancing
Color: Wine Red Pattern Name: Normal without Run
Ive had this chicken coop for about a year now and it has held up really well. I did however do some extra things to improve it. I highly recommend painting with a weatherproof outdoor paint or stain before assembling. And then caulking all of the corners and crevices with an outdoor window caulk. I also added 2 piano hinges to the main roof so that i can easily lift it up and clean out the coop. As well as some sticky vinyl to the floorboards inside. the main coop and the nesting box. These improvements have made my coop alot more weatherproof, wayy easier to clean, and helps my chickens to stay warmer during the sometimes harsh Northern winters. without additional improvements its still a decent coop. ... show more

  • Good for 2 chickens
Color: Gray Pattern Name: Normal without Run
A bit small, and needs some reinforcement for weatherproofing but it's decent for the price

  • You’ll need to make adjustments to predator proof
Color: Gray Pattern Name: Normal without Run
So I turned this coop into a brooder for baby ducklings which is in my barn “nursery”. ***The latches are NOT predator proof - neither are the floor panels (they simply pop in and out). I stapled hardware cloth to the bottom to secure and drilled the floor panels into the coop itself to ensure predators could not push through the bottom and get my babies. I did not do this for the nesting box portion as this is where I house a heavy waterer and their food, and it would be difficult for a predator to push through there. (I don’t need to worry about raccoons etc getting into this room - I was more worried about rats, weasels and my doxie 😂 if you are concerned about larger predators I would suggest doing the same here ) I also purchased different latches . The nesting box latch was pretty secure - I did put a simple clasp on there so nothing could maneuver the hook but otherwise it takes a lot of dexterity to maneuver and open on its own which is positive . I also removed the right door panel and screwed in hardware cloth so that I could access a heat lamp. I also added puck lighting , tension rods to hold the heat lamp and a small blue tooth thermostat so I could make sure the temperature is appropriate for babies. Pros- weather proof , and super super easy to assemble . It was very easy to make the adjustments I needed to make, to make it secure and safe. It’s super cute and makes the perfect brooder for my barn so I don’t have house stinky ducklings in my house . It’s great for babies . I presently have 6 ducklings housed in here overnight (they’re in a separate and secure run during the day) could be great for other small animals so it’s versatile . Cons : NOT predator proof (floors pop in and out , latches are awful ) additional materials WILL need to be purchased to make this secure. I also don’t think unless you have just a few chickens or a few ducks that this coop is enough to offer decent housing . I personally wouldn’t purchase this to house more than 2 birds but that’s just me . ... show more

  • 2x4s for the floor
Color: Wine Red Pattern Name: Normal without Run
It's a cute little house, and I really like the design, but the floor sucks. Like a lot of other people said the floor is easy to be pushed up by anything. So it'll have to be modified with 2x4s or something else. The floor was my biggest issue, because when we were trying to put the house together the floor boards kept falling out. The "lip" that they are supposed to sit on feel like they should be a little bit wider out to prevent that from happening. ... show more

Got it for the tortoises. Does the job. Let's see if it holds up in a Florida summer.

  • Easiest Asswmbly!!!
Color: Wine Red Pattern Name: Normal without Run
I liked how easy it was for me to put it together.. Much easier than the last coop i built. I also double weather-proofed the coop inside and out with Rustolium products. I may hinge the roof to make the interior easier to clean. Mu daughter has two female pet Rouen ducks who will be living in it.

  • Quackers will like it
Color: Wine Red Pattern Name: Normal without Run
I got this for my duck and his girl friend, not chickens. It is fine quality for the price, in fact five star quality for the price. I own chickens as well, and can say that this would be a great Silkie house if that is your thing, or good for a few full size birds. I probably wouldn't go much over 3-4 full size hens. And make sure you have your own secured run. The egg box lid is a little different from what i expected as well, but it works fine. It is not hinged, it is actually seated through a gap, and then it can move freely up and down. From there it is latched from the front securing it shut. It has no vents, which is really important with any fowl, so I added four 3 inch soffit vents (not in picture). Two on each side, this might not even be enough, I might add two more on the other two sides. This thing would be an ammonia filled hot box without some vents when secured during the summer. The wood is your basic cedar wood that you would find with other pre fab kits. But I like the fact that there are no thin pieces, but rather large solid panels. I have had other kits with thin rails and they snap over time from use. The construction also consists of large nuts and bolts rather than thin screws or nails as other kits do. Very sturdy when assembled correctly. I would suggest installing hinges on the roof as others have stated. This would be really hard to clean without the roof being unscrewed every time. Only four screws hold it down, so a hinge is not required if you don't mind unscrewing them every time. Very happy. WIth some minor changes it is perfect, no more than an additional $10 bucks invested. ... show more
