Our 2 cats love to jump on the counter and drink out of the sink, or topple over cups of water and drink off the counter. We found a circulating fountain nearly eliminated those maddening annoyances. We spent less money on a cheaper fountain than this and it was super noisy and gross to clean and stopped working after only 2 years. We also had to have it close to an outlet which made for some inconveniences. I decided to splurge a bit and get this fountain, even though it really isn't too costly. The design of this thing is FAR superior to the fountain we had before. The mechanism for the water movement is in a place where pet hair is far less likely to clog it up. It is buried in water like in a fish tank, and so it is super quiet. I can't even hear it. The water stays quite clean because most of the water is covered up, yet you're able to tell what the water level is. Our cats love it, it's nice to look at, and my favorite part is that I don't have to have it near an outlet. It comes with a cord that plugs into a USB type outlet. So I am able to put it on top of a little cabinet next the cats food. I plugged it into a power bank, pulled the cord around the back of it and tucked it in the upper drawer (pictured, cord coming around the right side). I bought this for my cat as I wanted to have a filtered and running option for when I'm out of the house. It is nice that I can be away for a few days and the water isn't stagnant and stays fresh. There is a removable little fountain spout but my cat didn't' care for it so I took it off and use it with the bubbler option instead. He is really taken with it and had not problems adjusting once I figured out he doesn't like his water near his food. It's nice that it is attractive looking, I have the blue with stainless steel bowl. It is very quiet but does have a soft bubbling sound with the fountain spout off. I don't even notice it now but when I first got it and was noticing it I didn't find it to be annoying, it's a quiet and pleasant sound. Very easy to set up and easy to clean. It came with filter and they are replaced every 2 weeks. Easy to change and not prohibitively expensive. It is transparent with a max and min fill lines so it is easy to see when to fill it and when filled to the max goes for days without needing to be topped up. This is a very quiet fountain. My cats love to drink from it. It is easy to clean too. You do need to keep up with the filter changes. If the filter becomes dirty, the fountain will clog and potentially stop flowing or spill over. You can reuse the sponge that goes by the pump. Just wash it in dish soap and rinse it out. I really like this fountain. It's been awhile since i bought one since my last one broke. This one is super quiet and is so pretty. I don't mind it being plastic as i plan to wash it every week as needed. The leaking i can see why it had those complaints it kinda splashes off the front so I can see why that would cause puddles over time.     • Major Spout Flaw Resulting in Mold - No Replacements Available

TLDR: Inaccessible empty spaces in spout cause mold. There are no replacement or alternative spouts available for purchase and fountain cannot be used without spout. Would not recommend purchasing this model of fountain. I bought this to replace a Catit fountain we'd had for years, hoping it would be easier to clean and maintain. Within a week of my cats using it, I noticed some discoloration on the side of the spout that was difficult to clean off, but figured it was from one of my cats possibly chewing on the side and dirt collecting there. I cleaned the spout weekly and the rest of the fountain every two weeks, but continued to have issues with just the spout. I came to realize that it was not just dirt, but mold growing in and on the spout nowhere near where the water (visibly) flows through it. I tried using the fountain without the spout, but each time the water would eventually end up pouring onto the floor, even with the fountain tipped slightly forward to help direct the flow. I've searched everywhere to buy a replacement spout without any luck. Now, looking back at previous one-star reviews, I see that this is a common issue that a replacement spout would not solve. Others have been able to break open the spout to discover there's empty space throughout the spout that are inaccessible for cleaning where water sits and inevitably grows mold. Ive had no other issues with this fountain and would love to continue to use it, but have not found a way to work around this issue without any spout alternatives available. ... show more
